I figured it out. I tried the first link and it worked. I think I only downloaded the base game. I still need to follow the order to update. The DLC for Duct Tape and Dungeon DLC is obtained with that link. The update contains more maps. Anyways hope this helped.

I made a folder for the executable and TheEscapists2_Data, the game opens but it won't load. It opens then crashes almost instantly. I installed the torrent if that matters. Why does it do this?

Can someone help me? I finally get one of the links to download the first update, but now the update doesn't want to update the game. It keeps saying that it isn't finding the right file or something about an original file that isn't there. I'm not sure what I am supposed to do. Can I just go to the next update instead? Hey, so make sure when you extract the file via WinRAR, you actually move the entire winrar folder over to a separate folder, and then right click and choose the option "extract here", this will fix any issues you have with the update not being able to find some files. The reason behind this is when you just drag and drop the contents of the folder, for some reason, information gets left behind, because you're doing it manually, but if you right click and tell it to extract, instead of doing it yourself, it'll work and extract 100% of the data. Hope this helps your issue. (this works on ALL games)
I moved the TheEscapists2_Data folder from 1.1.7 into the game folder because it said that that folder was missing. I then go to load the 1.1.9 version and it goes to a black screen with the loading symbol, then it closes itself. Can anyone help me?

Ok so once you install the main game, download v1.1.1 extract it, then open the Setup once you do that the installer opens then you find the directory of the base game then press install, then continue with all other updates.

i have a problem which is annoying as hell. the floor doesnt have any textures, the dogs in the main screen dont have textures just some random wierd textures the same with floor. idk if there are anymore cuz i played it until i saw that floor i moved a buit and thats it. any way to fix it? im on windows 7 32bit and i have 1gb ram could that be it?
A 32 bit operating system and computer are your first glaring problems. 32 bit isn't good for pretty much anything these days, even though there are programs made for 32 bit. It's an especially bad choice for playing games, as nothing but really old games still support 32 bit and 1gb ram or less. And I know there are games made with 32 bit compatibility, but even then, the stability is lower than 64 bit. If you're using a desktop, find a way to upgrade it, at least to 64 bit and 4gb ram. Can't say anything about the graphics since you didn't specify a graphics card, but with only 1gb of ram and a 32 bit system, I can't imagine the graphics card will be any better. If you're on a laptop, then get a better laptop, or, better yet, a desktop and upgrade it. It won't even cost that much to build a decent desktop to fulfill mid level gaming needs

First of all, never play Steam games through University/School internet or random public internet that have massive firewall. Secondly, u have to allow it through firewall. U can search that and allow ur Escapists 2 in public and home internet. Thirdly, I would like to play with you too in Steam if u want
thats right, or you want play the game via steam with cracked multiplayer coop u can use the steam fix, than you will have your steam name without changing anything.
if you have the Plaza release check Plaza Folder from the .iso image. if you have download the last version here check the folder if there is one, there should be the crack. I have first setup with all single updates. I am playing it via steam with friends, so i use The.Escapist.2.Steamworks.Fix.Generic google it its the multiplayer coop fix.

start the game, and make a save game. than check where is located. than you can copy the folder @ me it is C:\Users\Xagon\AppData\LocalLow\Team 17 Digital ltd_\The Escapists 2\Saves\76561197960332098 copy the folder with the nummers and replace it with your new save folder.
I was able to transfer the save files, but my keys are all gone. Please help me. I can't get into other prisons because I lost all the keys. Can update 9 be changed to .iso file like the first ones?
well I dont know about you, but I just literally delete my old game and replace it with this new update. The save files will automatically detect the exe file. You dont have to do difficult process such as copying in and out at all.
sorry for the late reply. i meant copy by copying the folder that has been extracted to any place u want. just right click the exe. file. use RAR or ZIP program to allow u left clicking for extraction.

you have the .iso file? open in with a virtual driver from windows 8 / 10 or install deamon tool lite it do the same. Or if you dont want to install something use winrar open it with this and extract all files than install.
NOPE , you open the crack folder , install it first when it done , right click to the shorcut icon in desktop "Open file location" then copy all crack folder . to the folder you just open . then click on icon in TheEscapist2 on desktop . you're done.

yes, it opens steam when you dont have copied the crack. Just checkmark this when you install the game and updates, than the game is automaticly cracked.

Patch 2 actually fixes that problem, though progress is saved to the cell not the player so if you play with more than 1 friend make sure they join in the same order or they will spawn with each others stats
For everyone that is confused, this is how you do it. First download the game, part 1 and 2. Put the 2 rar files in one folder. extract the part 1 rar in that folder, and run the img. install the game. Then you need to download "update 2". Open the updater, and select "copy contents of plaza into selected directory" and press install. Everything should go green if its correct. Then download update 3 and do the same Then update 5 and do the same. in order to get update 5, you need to install the previous updates.

Ok Sir.Alonne Ill explain in case you did not get an answer by now (i cant see other comments at this time due to an error on my end) Simpy go into the plaza folder copy EVERYTHING IN IT into your main game directory. You do not need steam at all. EDIT: upon fixing the problem on my end i see the comments and noticed that someone answered you already either way i hope this helps
you can just install the game and than is not cracked, than steam is opening when you start the game. Just Copy the Filse from the Plaza directory into your Installed game
Give igg a week or so to get it up here :) youll see it soon enough and by week i mean at least 7-10 days SOMETIMES they come up sooner but its rare with updates :) Also what Xagon said :)

do you mount the image ? or have you open it with winrar? can be the case that the copied files out of the image are damaged. and maybe you use an external space driver to install the game. use your internal hdd. try to redownload it from another source.
i need help. i tried installing plaza update # 5. i got an error (see attached image) . i've updated the game using the NON PLAZA updates and it worked, cus i just copy + paste the files to the directory.
Redownload the original game then use the update setup files from plaza they are designed to detect the original directory and previous updates itll automaticly detect and patch it for you IF NOT and you already did update 5 before That may also be the issue. hope this helps
Game crashes when in-game or when spamming Q. Sometimes even flickering when in menu, what's wrong? Did CommandLine = -force-d3d9 and forced it. Also I've tried in windowed mode with Windows 7 comp. Currently running windows 10 with GTX 960 4GB. Game always runs in Administrator mode.

yes you can, playing escapists with no shadows and low resolution on an Mac BookPro 2010 with HD3000, 2 gb ram, core duo 2,6 ghz. not smoof but playable.
Start game in DirectX9 Mode 1.Create shortcut from the "TheEscapists2" file. 2.Right click on the created shortcut -> Properties and add -force-d3d9 at the end of Target. (It should look like this: Target: "\TheEscapists2.exe" -force-d3d9) SmartSteamEmu 1.Open the "SmartSteamEmu" ini file with any editor and remove the hash symbol in front off CommandLine. (If not already done) 2.Replace -steam with -force-d3d9 -> save and close the file. (It should look like this: CommandLine = -force-d3d9)
You need install step by step: base game > update 2 > 3 > 5 :D (That why I still keep links of update 2 and 3 above). if some update dont need, i will delete links ;)
first you need daemon tools then go to downloads right click the zip rar file(of whatever game your playing) click extract here then click on the folder then you will see the daemon tools logo double click on that and it will say mounting image then you will a disk file on bottom hand corner click on that then you do the setup then it will have a folder your just gonna want to take everything in that folder and copy and paste it to the file that the setup saved too

replace the PLAZA Filies (the crack in the zip/ios folder) with the original files. You can find these when u right click The Escapists and click Open File Location.
And also if your computer doesn't match the requirements that the game needs you to mach than you can't play the game on that device. I mean you can upgrade your PC to a higher version of it or just buy a new one but that is sometimes really expensive so a lot of people can't even afford it. I have a shitty PC but I'm happy with it, and i don't complain about it or cry like a baby.
I'll stick with my old update 3 version since: Update 4 crashed on me - unplayable. Update 4 FIXED crashed on me - unplayable too. Update 5 crashed on me - unplayable. Again. All of these version mentioned above crash on both singleplayer and multiplayer when I try to start a new prison, load, continue, join.
open the escapist file location then search for steamemu.ini or anything with .ini extention open it and search for (username=......) then change the name after "=" with your name

Update 4 - waste of my time This doesn't even work for me. It crashes whenever I want to continue on a save file or start a new one, no matter what the prison is. I'll go back to the old version that was fine and actually worked.
igg only uploads just the updates when so little has changed you wont be downloading the same amount of data as downloading the whole game. so much changed that it warranted uploading the whole game not just the update

For those who get an runtime error when trying to update the game try this *Note: This requires another pc/laptop 1.) Copy the .iso of the game and the updates including the co-op using usb. 2.) Transfer all the files to another computer/laptop. 3.) Mount the iso and Install the game. 4.) Update 2 5.) Update 3 *Never check the box "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to installdir" when installing the game or updating or Never copy the contents of the "PLAZA" folder 6.) Copy the whole The Escapists 2 folder 7.) Transfer the folder into your main computer 8.) Now copy the Co-op files 9.) Run Enjoy :D QA 1.) When I try to run the game, it's all black.

when you invite your friends by the menu, your friend get a chat invite to SpaceWar to join your game. ( you should already be ingame, your friend in the main menu ). he went back to the game and it should load to join your open game.
guys if you are trying to load a map,BUT IT CRASHES solution: -open up command prompt -run it as administration(admin) -type in:bcdedit.exe /set IncreaseUserVA 2800 -restart pc it worked for me

Both you and your friend must have steam, and you must be friends in steam. To invite them I believe you go to your menu (make sure your game is private or public) and invite them from there. If your friend does not have steam or if you are not friends in steam, you cannot invite them.

guys i know how to fix when loading crashes like , it says runtime error if it says runtime error microsoft c++ go to command prompt run it as administrator then type: bcdedit.exe /set IncreaseUserVA 2800 after that you must restart your pc then that should work, no need to thank me if it didnt work I dont know whats the problem but it did work for me the only problem for this game is I actually finished the 2 prison then I was playing the 3rd prison after that I experienced a blackout then when I load up the game again ,the data was lost and I really hated it :( I have to start over again

The file name is changed into steam_emu and if u want to get the glorious regime prison its already there you dont need to add the dlc (sorry for my bad english)

Pause the game and in the bottom right change the game to public/private and tab out of the game to your steam friends list and open a chat with the friend. Invite them to game using the arrow to the right of their name and tell them to open their chat and join through the invite. (probably didn't need to be this in depth but oh well)

Is the game supposed to open with steam like how Friday the 13th opens?. I cannot seem to open up steam overlay in game and it doesn't say I am playing anything on steam so I can't invite friends.

Why is the co-op fix gone? Not required anymore? If I don't put the co-op fix after I update my game I lose ALL MY PROGRESS. Now I have to keep that fix in my computer and everytime I update the game I'll have to copy paste that in the game folder otherwise everything is lost...
just dont checkmark to copy the crack again. and be aware, the devs from the game said, you lose your progress with upadre 3. there is no solution for this
have you open the Plaza folder from the .iso image ? and tried to start it from there ? you have to go to your install folder, copy the files from the plaza folder to your install. start there the game. if you want play multiplayer / coop you need steam installed.

Here's how I got this working. This is the UPDATE and not the game itself. Furthermore, the updates (including this one) are NOT cumulative, so you need to install both update 2 and update 3 in order.
Find the "Link The Escapists 2-PLAZA TORRENT" link above and download the main game first. Install it.
Download update 2 and install it. DO NOT select "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to install dir"
Download update 3 and install it. DO select "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to install dir" I did not select "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to install dir" for the first 2 steps because I assume that the following updates are looking for exact matches of the .exe file and not cracked ones. This may or may not be needed, but doing it this way worked for me.
how can i put the iso inside the game directory? whenever i put all my files on the launch application i get a steam popup asking if i want to run the application with those files. when i click okay, nothing happens.

If you want to play singleplayer on your controller, it should basically work by itself, if not, either play around with x360ce, or re-download the game, updates etc.
If you want to play Split-Screen coop on a controller, just launch the game, go to options and choose Mouse and keyboard, thus your controller will be maped as palyer 2.

Most people here don't know shit about downloading. You need to download the game, then the update 2 and then update 3. Install update 2 and apply the crack that comes with it. Then do the same for update 3

Re-download the update
Run it as administrator
Don't choose a file where it's installed, just make it be the native thing (Tell me, did you install the game in the basic place? Like, not changing the place where it installed? You know what i mean

Okay, ehm... i though that the installer automatically picks a folder where it thinks the game is installed in (That's what most installers do), but then i realized this one is different, because you NEED to choose the folder (When i had this problem, I just made it use the default file, but this installer wants you to pick it. My plan was basically... Welp, bad.
Okay, you can keep the game on your own disc, not the default place. If you don't understand, tell me. You need to just do these steps (Do all of these)
Download the game and the updates again
Install the game (You can pick where you want to install it, maybe your own disc that you were talking about before)
Apply the crack (If you don't know how, tell me)
Install update 2 (Choose the disc it's gonna be installed in)
Inside the folder with update 2, there is a crack. You need to put that in the folder, where you have your game
Do the same for the Update 3 (Choose the place it will be installed into) I hope it will work... Not really sure tho.

That's rather strange. Try to run the game as administrator, that could do the trick. Second option is, re-install the game. You can also try to apply the newest updates (If you haven't already) If that does not do it, please tell me
I always run it as administrator, i did all the update, i ll probably try to reinstall it i guess. It seems like i m the only one having this problem. Edit: Just reinstalled the game (with a full clear) and nothing change, when i exit the option or change the tab in option it just go back to "mouse, keyboard & controller"

After you installed the update have you tried applying the Steamworks Fix Generic files again? I installed updated 2, I though I've lost my files and then put the files from steamworks fix inside the game folder and my progress came back.

okay, so do CTRL + ALT + SUPPR and open the file gestionnary once this is done, go into "process" and search for a process named "escapists2.exe" or something like that if you find it, terminate it then retry if there's none, restart your computer

When you start up a prison, you press ESC, and then search your friends name in the friend list on the right. You click on his name, and then you press ''invite''. PLEASE NOTE: You have to put it your prison on public or private!
i can't search my friends name cause it just says ACTiVATE in the side bar like its my friend or something. my prison is on public and random ppl have joined but my friend cant find the room.

technically yes, but it's very unlikely, and you'd get a ban if you played online or offline, so, it's nearly impossible for it to happen, since no one is banning anyone for this anymore the best way to be sure you won't get banned is to disable the ability for people to see which game you're playing

saves have data also on the main directory of the game it's like BOI, if you wanted to change saves you had to modify core files to the game so it works

mount the image from the game, open the driver there should be the Plaza folder, copy it to your game folder. its the same think. I dont know why its not showing, do it manuell.

I have put all the files in a folder and added the .exe game file as a shortcut in steam and everytime i try to open it it opens for a couple seconds with a blank navy blue screen then crashes
If you have downloaded the game, just install the game with the Plaza installer. Than open The.Escapist.2.Steamworks.Fix.Generic.rar and extract all files to your install folder. Now you have start your Steam client, login. And now you start the game with the .exe and it should work.

Why are you stupid? Open with winrar and drag the file somewhere and open setup checklist the copy plaza thing and one it installed copy the autorun to the escapists 2 where you install it
uh, to put it in a clearer way... use deamon tools to burn the Disc image then you'll see a window pop up launch "Setup.exe" when you did, select the option "move content of the PLAZA directory into the game folder" then simply launch the installation

i'm not sure since i'm not part of the team, but i think it makes the game more stable, anyway install it just in case, your files won't be corrupted if you do it correctly
The crack fix for online coop is a must if you want to play with your friends online. It allows you to play all maps and you can invite friends directly. You have to open steam first though before launching the game. :D
not all maps, center peaks 2.0 and rattlesnakes springs doesn't seem to work, at least from my point of view, after trying everything but the other maps work just fine
Me and my friend can't play in center perks 2.0 from the previous crack, but after we applied the crack fix for online coop, we can now play all maps. We just played center perks 2.0 yesterday. :D

try to see if there's a process working do CTRL + ALT + SUPR then click on "process" and try to find something relating to the installer if there is, stop it, then click on the installer again

it's not a problem from the crack for sure, but it may be a problem from your computer, i'll try to see for a steam thread talking about this for now try to reinstall the game, i don't see any other way to make it work you can also download the multiplayer fix, since the local files are changed it may help a bit

Well the game is still very bugged, according to what I read on the Steam forums. So maybe the crashes are normal? Still, I don't get crashes when I click on singleplayer... So maybe you lack something like the latest version of Directx, or some Visual C++ libraries? Once you installed the game, you get a folder in the main game folder called "_CommonRedist". You can go in there and try to update DirectX?

so, i don't remember if you can knock them off the train (i'll try that) but, here's a combat tutorial: first, lock on your enemy using middle mouse then, you can hit them with the mouse, you can also charge your attack and you can block incoming attacks with right click. protip: try to dodge them then block, not only block and dodging also, the train level can be done in 2 mn using the horse (he's in the compartiment left to the starting zone) you can easily not knock up any guard in the whole train if you play fast abd use stealth (try to hide in cabinets, and remember, guards don't hear you running, so you can pass just near them)
Ok thanks, I'll try all that. I actually tried to play with my gamepad... Maybe it wasn't the best idea? I really need to practice with the blocking. I saw the horse in the train level, but apparently you need to craft a fake carrot... I checked and it seems you need 3 items to do it... One of them seems to be an orange pen, which I can't find anywhere. Well, yeah I'd like to do it stealthily without having to knock the guards, but I actually wonder if the guards don't have the item I'm looking for. Interesting game with nice graphics, but so far I see a few frustrating gameplay design choices. I'll spend more time on it tomorrow. :)
protip, ditch that gamepad away XD but yeah, the three objects are pretty easy to find, just search the desks on the train, it'll randomly appear i know there's three other ways to escape... but i'm not sure about it? one of them is to take control of the whole train by beating every guards inside, expect there's riot guards who are really good, if you do that you better grab the medkits in the medbay
Well I remember that one of the escape ways was on the roof, all the way to the right. Beat all the guards? But the medic guy comes and heals them right away, so I wonder how we can do it. :(

I installed game yesterday and wokred fine, i could even join online game. today i installed the co-op crack (step 6) and since then i get blacksceen after the Team17 logo.
you just put the two parts (in the .rar file) inside the same directory, then you launch one of the .iso in the 1st or 2nd part it'll automatically take the other part

First of all, go into the escapists folder, (the one you extracted) then inside the same folder as the setup, there should be a folder called PLAZA, copy all the files in the PLAZA folder. After that, right click the escapists shortcut on your desktop and click go to file's location. Then you paste the files you copied from PLAZA into there! Have fun! :)

spacewar is safe, it's a demo showcase that's avaialble to install on steam via a steam link (Dont think it shows in the store) otherwise it's safe and you can't get punished for it. If you wanna be more safe just disable broadcasting to public on steam.

Yeah same. I dont think we can join with anyone that is playing center perks but if you wanted to play the rattlesnake prison you can play together on that. All you have to do is start a public game, have your friend join that public game and then turn the game to private. You also kick who ever else you want out of the game.
What i did was pick up the crack from PLAZA again and copy on the directory of the game the multiplayer was working(not really tried but i could see open rooms) and the game opened

If you want to play with your friends (NOT Versus) you have them create a game and go to "Browse Games" in the bottom right hand corner. Filter your maps and WALLAH you guys are now in the same lobby. They can also change it to private after you join if you don't want the occasional random butting in.

There should be a .ini file and in it there is a line called language and you can change it with a supported language (right now I don't know the exact name of the file, but I'm downloading the game right now)

Hey, It seems alot of us are able to play with a select few people (Not always users with cracked games) however were unable to play with the people we actually want to play with (Friends etc). Multiplayer is working, you need copy/paste crack from PLAZA folder to your game's dir, then start game: Bonus: this version inclu DLC too, if you want to unlock DLC, you open "steam_emu.ini" with notepad, then add this line: "666350=The Escapists 2 - The Glorious Regime Prison", save it and start game again.

I figured it out. I tried the first link and it worked. I think I only downloaded the base game. I still need to follow the order to update. The DLC for Duct Tape and Dungeon DLC is obtained with that link. The update contains more maps. Anyways hope this helped.

Your main problem might be the RAM. 1GB RAM is pretty much useless these days.
If you're using a desktop, find a way to upgrade it, at least to 64 bit and 4gb ram. Can't say anything about the graphics since you didn't specify a graphics card, but with only 1gb of ram and a 32 bit system, I can't imagine the graphics card will be any better. If you're on a laptop, then get a better laptop, or, better yet, a desktop and upgrade it. It won't even cost that much to build a decent desktop to fulfill mid level gaming needs

Solution: Update winrar xD
First download the game, part 1 and 2. Put the 2 rar files in one folder. extract the part 1 rar in that folder, and run the img. install the game.
Then you need to download "update 2". Open the updater, and select "copy contents of plaza into selected directory" and press install. Everything should go green if its correct.
Then download update 3 and do the same
Then update 5 and do the same.
in order to get update 5, you need to install the previous updates.
Version 4.5 or 4.5.2 to be able to install the updates.
If you have win 10 you already have this.
than start the game.

1.Create shortcut from the "TheEscapists2" file.
2.Right click on the created shortcut -> Properties and add -force-d3d9 at the end of Target. (It should look like this: Target: "\TheEscapists2.exe" -force-d3d9)

tools then go to downloads right click the zip rar file(of whatever game your playing) click extract here then click on the folder then you will see the daemon tools logo double click on that and it will say mounting image then you will a disk file on bottom hand corner click on that then you do the setup then it will have a folder your just gonna want to take everything in that folder and copy and paste it to the file that the setup saved too

To invite them I believe you go to your menu (make sure your game is private or public) and invite them from there. If your friend does not have steam or if you are not friends in steam, you cannot invite them.

Open the game and click Play game and select a map which enables multiplayer (Steam will show you are playing "SpaceWar")
I went offline until I was ingame and ready to invite my friend just in case.
Pause the game and in the bottom right change the game to public/private and tab out of the game to your steam friends list and open a chat with the friend.
Invite them to game using the arrow to the right of their name and tell them to open their chat and join through the invite.
(probably didn't need to be this in depth but oh well)
Start steam and u can invite ur friends ingame.

I did not select "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to install dir" for the first 2 steps because I assume that the following updates are looking for exact matches of the .exe file and not cracked ones. This may or may not be needed, but doing it this way worked for me.

but, here's a combat tutorial:
first, lock on your enemy using middle mouse
then, you can hit them with the mouse, you can also charge your attack
and you can block incoming attacks with right click.
protip: try to dodge them then block, not only block and dodging
also, the train level can be done in 2 mn using the horse (he's in the compartiment left to the starting zone)
you can easily not knock up any guard in the whole train if you play fast abd use stealth (try to hide in cabinets, and remember, guards don't hear you running, so you can pass just near them)

one of them is to take control of the whole train by beating every guards inside, expect there's riot guards who are really good, if you do that you better grab the medkits in the medbay
Beat all the guards? But the medic guy comes and heals them right away, so I wonder how we can do it. :(

You're factually wrong. If you engage in playing MP that utilizes SpaceWar a known workaround, you can be banned.
You can install spacewar by typing steam://install/480/ in your browser and going through.
No sir. You can't sit there and try to tell me anyone and everyone is safe for using the exploit. You HAVE to assume you are in the wrong right off the bat and consequently, could get banned. You may. You may not.
Besides, you even admit as much when you state, "If you wanna be more safe..." Come on now. If things were as ironclad as you purport, you wouldn't even have mentioned that part - or just threw that in your original argument.
It's the cavalier attitude about the whole thing that drew me in. You can't tell people running a cracked product that they illegally download that they are safe. Say 99%. Say all but safe... but don't give the false sense of security that you're doing. Some of us have been around for ages and know.

Bonus: this version inclu DLC too, if you want to unlock DLC, you open "steam_emu.ini" with notepad, then add this line: "666350=The Escapists 2 - The Glorious Regime Prison", save it and start game again.
