@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error). By doing one of the following:
Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:
Method 2: or after installing the game, open the iso file, copy everything in the "RUNE" folder, then paste them to where you installed the game, enjoy ;) (see tutorial image here if you still dont know: https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html)
For anyone curious what exactly this adds over the original version: New language options, quite a lot actually but that’s probably the main reason the file size is so much. English & Chinese fully voiced being the most notable. All the other languages are text-only but some big ones like French weren’t present before now. 5 new cutscenes for a total of 20 minutes between them. The ability to save anywhere instead of only at save points. A licensed intro song previously not in the international release is restored. A new arcade-style mode unrelated to the main story. That’s everything new. All in all, not worth it UNLESS you never played the original version.
My biggest concern is if the mods will trail over without a problem. I just got the co-op mod to work and it really makes shaking down Mr. Shakedown hilariously fun.
Mmmmm... I can see that. As long as Sega doesn't do any intentional meddling to break mods so they can implement their own that just so happen to be bought... I feel that it'll be okay.
But geez, $15 for the upgrade tho. I like to think that Sega is still throwing shade at Nintendo all these years vs the $20 "upgrade" from the Switch 1 to the Switch 2. 🤭
If you're one of those oddballs (like me) who feel that it's worth dropping some cash on, it doesn't seem like it's a good idea from what the review say. Ouch...
Most of the comments are annoyed about the price ($35 base + $15 upgrade) which yeah, I can see that cause it doesn't seem to do any upscaling or anything of the sort. There's also some talk that Sega might pull an Ubisoft and delist the OG game later on which I'd be more surprised if they didn't since riding Nintendo's wave is profitable. Outside of that we might hear some chatter about the Chinese dub being broken, so get ready for that, all who do the troubleshooting/upgrades.

I hope this isn't a trend for Sega. =/
lets move it on kiddos
NEXT!!!!!
all this does is add bloat to the game and the ones they added in the story is pointless and sometimes worsen the story
