I usually wait for the final version, myself. IMHO, the main problem with "Early Access" is that sometimes the dev never finishes developing a final release version which leads to a major let-down! I've been waiting for games like "Space Rescue: Code Pink" to be finished for almost two years now, to no avail. Another game that I'm waiting for to be finalized, "Orc Massage", has a posted Early Access release date of Feb 8, 2022 and is nearing its one year mark (Less than one month) of still being in Early Access.

Upon more thought and to be fair, I'd like to add that sometimes Early Access games do get a final version made by their devs and that those final version games turn out to be excellent and were well worth following all through their development. Games like "Shaolin vs Wutang" and "Little Witch Nobeta" are fine examples of such games that come to mind. IMHO, it is best left to the individual player to decide whether an Early Access game is worth following.
