I am also having the same issue. I googled the error and found a VK post of the same issue.
"The developers deleted some files (in fact, these are parts of previous patches that they replaced), the torrent does not touch them. They had to be manually deleted. That's why they interfered with the launch."
Tried to delete the file but still the same, anyone can help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: Reportedly, patch v1.5 addresses the "slow recovery animation after getting knocked down" and also "slow healing flask animation". They feel significantly better as far as I've seen. You won't be needing the mods for these anymore.
===========================================
Finished my first playthrough. I thought I was very thorough and explored everything, yet got the worst of the endings 😄
TLDR: This game is a solid 7 out of 10 Souls-like for me, and I mean it as a praise. If you add some mods (easily installable), it becomes an 8.5 out of 10. I recommend it.
Pros:
The combat feels snappy yet measured. It's like a weird lovechild of Nioh and Dark Souls 2 and somehow works.
Level design surprised me. While clearly not open-world, there are many actually distinct forks in the road that kept me engaged.
The story, while not original, felt personal and not some grandiose "save the world" plot.
Visuals and animations are pleasing, even on low settings. Encountered zero crashes and very few frame drops on a very average 8GB GPU.
Skill-tree will divide many. While unique, some people may prefer separate systems for upgrading your weapons and your character. This game combines that into one tree. I think it's unique. Your mileage may vary though.
The game surprisingly has many NPCs with quests. If you are not looking, you can easily miss or lose them.
Cons:
Certain animations in the game feel really slow, like healing flask usage and recovery from being knocked down. That breaks the flow and frustrates. This can be fixed with mods.
There are two types of enemies/bosses in this game. 1. Classic Dark Souls style which do a 2~5 hit combo and give you a window to hit back. 2. Those with continuous fast combos and unlimited stamina. The further you progress the more you meet enemies and bosses of the second type. Yet, the disparity and sudden switch between these two types may give you the impression of "bad difficulty pacing".
This is a "dodge" game, meaning, dodging is your main survival maneuver. While blocking and parrying exist, they are limited and case-specific. I count this as a limitation. It didn't have to be. This can also be fixed with mods.
Minor jank. This was rare, but the ground's geometry pushed me off ledges a few times 😅
Agony of choice: At times you may not know which path you should take next, worrying you may lock yourself out of an NPC quest, and that can easily happen! Some clues would've been nice.
Personal Suggestion: As my final note; there are great mods for the game already. I am using the following list in my NG+ and I wish I had used them in my original playthrough. They mash with the game so well you'd think they were already part of it. You can download these from Nexusmods.
Those mods are just cheats... there is nothing "too slow" about any of the animations. Picking items up faster lets you loot items guarded by powerful enemies without defeating the enemies, normally you wouldn't be able to do this, that's why it's just a cheat. Sprinting is not too slow either, allowing you to outrun all enemies is also just cheating. Using healing flasks faster is also obviously cheating... in a boss fight you have to find an opportune time to heal, with a faster heal it's much easier to find the time to do so.
If you want to cheat that is fine, but don't tell people these are just "quality of life" fixes... they are blatantly cheating.
You are right. You caught me. These are all cheats and take away from the carefully curated authentic experience.
It's too sad that Leenzee gave into the cheating temptations of guys like me and basically implemented most of these mods but even more radically in patch v1.5.
I mean, imagine increasing the elevator speed by a factor of x3 and running back to the boss arena 3 times faster. Revolting, I know. Violating the spirit of a boss challenge like that. Or faster healing? And on top of that cancelling the healing animation midway? Blasphemy! (all official changes in patch v1.5)
Or as you astutely spotted, picking up items 50% faster, especially like +90% of the times when those items are not guarded by a powerful enemy.
I should take some time off, contemplate, and be ashamed of misleading people. I'm gonna do just that.
Let's say we want to add the mod Improved Recovery to our game which lets you get up 20% faster after getting knocked down.
When you open up that mod page on Nexus, you see multiple tabs. The download links for the mods are on the "Files" section. Right now there are 9 files in there. Like, faster healing flask usage, faster knockdown recovery, etc. Each one does a different thing as mentioned by their names. You download the zip file of the ones you want and keep it.
The most important tab however, is the "Description" tab. It usually explains in details how to install the mod. The key information in this description is the "Requirements" section. Requirements explains what pre-requisite mods you have to install first for our mod to work. When you open the requirements for Improved Recovery you'll see it says Wuchang Mod Enabler. You'll find that this Wuchang Mod Enabler is usually required for most mods. So again, you go to Files section and download it as a zip file.
So, to sum it up so far, we are going to do the following in this order: Download Wuchang Mod Enabler → Install this mod → Download Improved Recovery → Install this mod
Let's do these in order. Unzip the downloaded Wuchang Mod Enabler's content and copy it into the game's main directory. The main directory is the same location where "Project_Plague.exe" exists. And just like that, Wuchang Mod Enabler is installed.
Now go to the directory below and create a folder named "~mods". "Drive:\Wuchang Fallen Feathers\Project_Plague\Content\Paks" So inside "Paks" folder you'll have a newly-created "~mods" folder. This ~mods folder is where the files for our Improved Recovery mod will be copied in. In other words, Mod Enabler will enable any compatible mod which exists in this folder.
Now, back to our Improved Recovery mod's zip file which we downloaded earlier. Inside it there's a file with a ".pak" extension. Something like this: "WFF_ImprovedKnockdown_20p_P.pak" All you have to do is copy this file into that ~mods folder we created. Do that and we are done.
Now if you run the game, the mod should be in effect and running. To disable the mod simple remove its .pak file from the ~mods folder.
I assumed you are new to Nexusmods and modding so this may have been a bit too detailed and verbose but the process is simple and straightforward. Everything I said here can be found in each of the mods description pages.
Also, if you run into any mod-specific issues check the "Posts" section of each mod. You can find good info on there and you can usually find the answers you seek. Have fun.
This is my early review of the game, 10 hours in. I will amend this later on, after finishing the game.
TLDR: In a genre filled with repetitions and lackluster imitations, Wuchang pursues its own identity and that's surprisingly refreshing. I came in having watched no reviews with zero expectations and I'm immensely enjoying the combat and the visuals. I recommend it.
More Context: Performance isn't as bad as you're told if you're not a 4K raytracing addict: First off, the elephant in the room, the performance. Using an 8GB mediocre GPU, I ran into almost no performance issues. A few ticks here and there. However, instead of watching hastily written reviews by early-access YouTubers, I watched this optimization video.
The key takeaway was this: This UE5 game is VRAM hungry. If you're limited by 8GB of VRAM make sure to put "texture quality" at "low" to limit memory spikes. However, after the v1.3 update I've set it to "medium" and haven't noticed any ticks or spikes. So, either I'm lucky or the performance issues are for people who intended to run it at way higher qualities. That said, even my hardware surpasses the game's recommended specs in their Steam page, which means their optimization updates will continue.
The image I've attached is my settings for the v1.0.
Not strictly a Souls-like, rather a spiritual successor to Nioh: I jumped in only knowing this was a high-effort Souls game. I was lowkey hoping for a Sekiro-like judging by the trailers. I couldn't be more wrong. There's a lot of Nioh's DNA here which I honestly prefer over Souls. Dodging is your key tool. And you aim to overwhelm your opponent and bosses by performing cool combos in your windows of opportunity.
You can unlock the deflect ability later on pretty much like Nioh, which unlike Nioh is pretty good here, but that's not the game's focus. While the game obviously borrows from established formula of Souls combat it feels like its own distinct thing.
Other notable elements:
There is a story in there about a feathered amnesiac protagonist seeking to "save" her sister, but I wouldn't play this for the story 😄
This game is not hand-holdy when it comes to level/world design. I personally like it. You may have a different experience though.
Balancing has been OK so far. The game is more open than I expected, which makes balancing a challenge. I will reserve my judgement for later.
While the animations are "artistic" they slightly hinder the flow IMO. They have this extra frames of flair to them as if they've been performed by a ballerina. I was almost sure it was mo-capped by the boneless Xixi Yu Sakana 😂
The skill tree will certainly be hit or miss. You are basically upgrading not the character but classes of weapons branches. I feel indifferent to it.
The madness mechanic. It's a cool concept in theory. I need to see more of it, but from the little I saw, it can easily be cheesed, and maybe that was the intention.
i am pretty sure more than 50% of the users dont give a shit of performance or if the game is another unoptimized flop they only care for this and since this is a unreal engine game its only a matter of time they start making horny crap
I can't speak for others but as I'm about to finish the game I can say "that part" is probably the weakest aspect of the game and not just visually. Felt very unnecessary. The rest is actually pretty serviceable.
I'm really not sure why Chinese developers are so interested in creating Soul-like games. In Japan, there aren't too many teams currently doing it, at least not right now.
I can name at least four Chinese teams that have ongoing AAA projects that are Soul-like. I am half Chinese, and I don't understand. Is it similar to the EV sector, where Chinese officials believe this project can succeed after the success of "Black Wu Kong," and every provincial government is saying "all-in on Soul-like games to 'tell China story well'"?
I also want to point out that if a Chinese-made game wants to get the "publication number" and "network certificate number" required for this game to distribute in China, it must comply with "window guidance." Some of the "guidance" is that the game shall encourages incorporating elements that “tell China story well" (The Tell China story well is name of a specific "initiative" more detail look below), “Demonstrate the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation. Boost the national pride to achieve great national rejuvenation.”and "introduce the danger of foreign thought/entities". And the game should show to the unique culture difference of Chinese society and introduce the 12 core socialist Values of modern China" (aka: show western audiance why "Socialism with Chinese characteristic" works in china and China should not become a multi-party system)
Ultimately, whether these motives succeed or not, people should know that the developer are usually pressured to comply, especially if the company receives money from a state-affiliated company or subsidiary.
If you're aware of these ulterior motives and still choose to play the game, I respect your personal decision, much like if you see an LGBT tag and decide to proceed with the game regardless.
(By the way, "tell China story well" is a top Chinese communist party (CCP) open agenda aimed at shaping the image of China subtly through narrative warfare, like games, and inviting YouTubers to travel to China and cover all expenses to showcase how glorious life is in China under CCP rule. This also intended to assert the CCP's legitimacy as the sole party ruling China and resist the democratization of a multi-party system by showing "China speed" and "China quality" as the advantage of one party system and, how socialism in China is superior than multi party west, as well as showing western audience how life would be better in their country if they also have a one party system like China and how they can learn from China)
But many Chinese are in such a dire state, and since the CCP claims they eradicated poverty in China, the CCP just turns a blind eye to all the problems in the rural areas; all the media is state-owned, and you will not get coverage on many of the "problems" until it is affecting them. It's like piling 1.4 billion people's manpower and wealth into selected, dedicated cities as a showcase to demonstrate how the Communist Party of China makes socialism work better than "Western valued" lazy white pig (白猪). The truth is maybe 300 million Chinese are living in a relative "middle class," and the rest of 1 billion are like modern slavery, and the remaining 100 million are living in conditions below slavery. The CCP will face a historical reckoning, but not if the CCP successfull cultivated and turns young Westerners into anti-West and divert the attention and pressure placing on them.
I assist by translating the "Great Translation Movement" and shedding light on various issues on different platforms to ensure people do not fall for the CCP's tricks. The CCP is very sensitive about the image it projects to the Western world while maintaining an iron fist regarding problems within China. Hence, only by telling Westerners the truth and causing the CCP to lose face will they address some of the issues faced by the Chinese people.
"I speak fluent Chinese and Japanese as well as English. I am a mix of Chinese and Japanese, raised in China until the end of primary school, middle school in Japan, high school in the US, and college in the UK. Then I worked in Poland for 4 years, and now I am back in the States as a prop firm risk manager. I've traveled to most Southeast Asian countries, Middle Eastern countries, and Latin American countries."
My guy, you wouldn't be keyboard yapping on a website of warez games if you REALLY are THAT wealthy in knowledge. To me, you just sounds WAY too political to be a gamer.
Being delusional and erudite are two polar-opposite things, also don't copy-paste as a reply, dipshit.
First, you often see me write score and review for games, and if the game is above 3/5, I usually own the game, and I what wrote on this website is the same as what I wrote on epic or steam. And if you want the proof of me being multinational as a Chinese, we can chat on Discord (I've sent my discord UID via this website's direct message), and I can give you my LinkedIn profile as well, though I am not interested in posting it altright to the public domain, but I can back up every word with proof if you are welling to chat.
And also as for who I am is the reply the the guy below, I 've confused your avatar with Rob Conner
See what YouTuber "Greg Owen" had to say about "Sweet Baby Inc" and "Black Myth: Wukong" here a year ago. IMHO, you really should just enjoy or dislike a given game for its mechanics/gameplay and not for any other reasons which do not really have anything to do with the game.
If you really want see Communism overthrown in China or any other country be it Vietnam, Cuba or better yet, North Korea which BTW are all good causes then join one of those organizations that are working towards that goal instead of complaining about it here to gamers where it will serve the least amount of good.
You say that you're half Chinese and also mentioned that "In Japan, there aren't too many teams ....", so can I take it that your other half is Japanese? If so then I can't entirely imagine the conflict within you while you were growing up given the past "Bad blood" between those two countries during WWII and a bit before during China's last dynasty which actually was a foreign one being of Manchu origin (BTW - The bloodlines have now been mixed so through the ages that it's virtually impossible now to tell a pure Han Chinese apart from a Manchurian, so in a way, the "Invaders" have now become the "Invaded" - See here), though relations have improved since then due to amicable trade between the two (I've even worked with some fellow programmers who were Japanese born citizens with work visas in the US who I found to be very polite, friendly and who had shared their insights on the subject) and the media portraying more people of such shared heritage (I might be stretching things with "Lucy Liu's character in "Kill Bill: Volume 1" who was portrayed as being half Chinese and half Japanese) but there are groups within Japan who are more proactive towards that goal than there are supporters or potential ones within the members of this site (IMHO, the first and third ones in the below screenshot might not be a good fit for you but perhaps the second would be). 🤔
This also heavily applies to games like Stellar Blade. I feel like most gamers™ only like it because hot female protagonist. Same for games like The First Descendant, if you've ever heard about that. But what can you do, people love to insert their own politics into discussions where they don't belong. Like, look at Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League. If you ask people why it failed, barely anyone will tell you it failed because it's boring, bland and repetitive and poorly written.
I have to admit that I'm waiting for "Stellar Blade" to be cracked. I occasionally think of its potential [Eve's] assets - LOL~! Also, see YouTuber's RGSPlay's video here. I've heard of "The First Descent" but don't really have any real interest in "Free to Play" games as I prioritize my limited free time towards playing full version [Not to say that all "Free to Play" games are not full version ones], retail games. If my limited, free time was not a factor then yes, I would try "Free to Play" games more often. 🙂
As for the remainder of your reply comment, I agree. 😎👍
The problem with TFD is that they prioritized looks over everything else. The grind is insanely boring, the story is almost non existent and the gun play is dull. Plus the monitization is insanely aggressive. People often compare it to Warframe but Warframe has it beat in just about evry aspect
The game is optimized to its heart of content, the modelling, animations, scenery visuals, music and on top of that, they have an "easy mode" option for people that are not interested in Souls-esque combat system, you can even make the game slow down when a boss is about to attack.
Everything in Stellar Blade makes it worth to be protected by Denuvo, now that isn't a thing I would say easily.
Don't trust those shallow content creators, experience the game on your own - you will understand why it's so popular.
I played the free demo and honestly there was nothing that stood out to me, it just looked and felt like yet another action-adventure game set in a post apocalyptic world
If " you really should just enjoy or dislike a given game for its mechanics/gameplay and not for any other reasons which do not really have anything to do with the game", then you willingly submit yourself to any messaging or propaganda the game delivers, just because you think its "good" (See Baldur's Gate III)
The "just focus on the game" argument is a fallacy, often used by lefties or people who don't want to be bothered with politics but are often left leaning if pressed harder. They don't want to acknowledge the criticism or issue which is the propaganda itself.
First and foremost It's a fallacy because computer games have NEVER been about gameplay/machnics alone. I don't understand how people are still bringing up that argument. Games are about an EXPERIENCE.
If the experienc is bad, then the game is bad. It's just that the woke left blurs out anything in that regard because they have no awareness or interest in acknowledging this dynamic within their entertainment product.
I mean, besides your political comment, I'd assume that they just think soul-likes will sell. You don't want to insert propaganda into crap that noone buys or plays, so you gotta go with what it "safe". This is exactly what companies like Ubisoft are doing. They are selling stuff that works, and then "the message" can be inserted into a product that will sell a certain amount of times. Same with the Marvel movies. Once they got a recipe, they go all in, like lemmings.
No entertainment value in that comment so they get no reply from me! Besides, I haven't played AC Shadows yet(Probably the game they're referring to) so I can't point out it's issues
It's a shame that things turned out that way for him. IMHO, I think that he was just a bit confused about how to react to this game and should have just enjoyed the game for its own merits rather than try to politicize it.
I understand what you're trying to say but it's too bad that you can't just enjoy a game for itself and not distance yourself from any political agenda which you may perceive.
Short of covertly arming any resistance fighters within Communist China, gathering the active military support of the Nationalists in Taiwan and the covert support of the CIA, the CCCP's regime is currently too powerful to overthrow by conventional means without instigating WW III should other powers be later involved.
What is actually needed is for a top Communist official like Xi Peng backed along with the support of some of his key fellow officials to be brave enough like former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev to stand up and publicly announce to the other Communist officials and the people in general that "Communism doesn't work for our country and that there is a need for change more towards a republic form of democracy" (See a video from an interview with CNN's Larry King in 1993 where Mr. Gorbachev explains why Communism didn't work in the former USSR). All else like "hidden political agendas" is just "background noise" that many people will just ignore.
Cults like Falun Gong via their "Epic Times" printed newspaper and website have for years been trying (More power to them, for what it's worth) an indirect approach to try to discredit and eventually take down the CCCP but unfortunately, to no great success. Also see this Reddit page for in-depth discussions about whether Falun Gong is a cult.
If you don't change your ways then you'll probably miss out on all of the exciting fun whenever "Black Myth: Wukong" finally gets cracked (I remember that we had another similar discussion in another game page about your perceived political agenda behind that game).
I'd say Black Wukong is not really trying to explicitly convey the message related to the CCP or modern China, but just in general a game that succeeded, besides partially got funded by the company that is part of the united front. This is what I've mentioned on Black Wukong's page as well. But it was mainly because the Chinese regulators did not expect it to actually be a successful game, so the attention is not put into it. CCP is used to use some of the more traditional way like paying influencers to travel to China and say nice things about modern China, like the "China‑Global Youth Influencer Exchange Program"
After the success of Black Wukong, the "guidance" and "requirement" for new AAA games are much more pronounced. If the dev receives money from a SASAC affiliate entity, without the money from a civil military fusion company like Tencent or a company that is state owned or joins United Front, creating an AAA game is nearly impossible due to cash limitations, which is also why you mostly see Chinese indie games. This is an ongoing process, and not just this game or that game, and it will become more and more common.
The funny thing is, this WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers receives a lot of heat from Chinese Steam users just because players can beat ancient national Chinese heroes and have the ability to decide to kill them. In their eyes, you are supposed to only be able to lose to national heros, and players should never have the decision to kill a national hero.
Hmm ... I can't really see exactly what you had written since I've lost track of the game page in which we had our previous discussion. BTW, there is no game page on this site for "Black Myth: Wukong" since that game still hasn't been cracked yet. That's fine and all for the independent Chinese devs living in China but there are also Chinese devs living in Taiwan who may also create games with hidden agendas to counter the hidden agendas in the games made by independent Chinese devs living in China. However, once again, people should really just try to enjoy a game on its own merits aside from any perceived politics. Well, that's understandable. I can see how Americans would be pi$$ed off and voice their anger in great numbers at any game which would allow one of America's most respected, founding fathers like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln be defeated or even killed by a player's character (Well most Americans aside from the racist,White Supremacists groups who would enjoy seeing Abraham Lincoln killed for freeing the slaves and jump starting the road to equality in the US for all people).
Correct, it was not on Black Wukong's page. But I remember we had this conversation before, if not twice already, and every time my argument is the same, and your argument is also the same. And I will keep commenting on the game that receives money directly from a subsidiary of the United Front Department, especially if the said gaming company has a CCP committee inside. And I never comment on Chinese indie games in the same way as those sponsored by some of the CCP's departments. You've seen me on this site for a year now, and you know how I comment on things. I never bother the politics with Chinese indie game, but only the game that was clearly got money from CCP and pushed and praised by the state media.
You're talking points are all recycled Trumpist talking points (and even the style of your grammar), so I doubt you are who you say you are. But nice comedy.
It is not "recycled." If you've ever talked to any first-generation Chinese immigrants, all of them will tell you that China takes ideology projection seriously. Some that love the CCP may say that there are some false stereotypes and some misconceptions, but they cannot deny that it is highly ideology-focused the country. If you can read a little bit of Chinese and you walk down the street in China, you will see propaganda posters talking about the good of the CCP everywhere. Have you ever been to Cuba and be able to speak Spanish? Same idea, but the CCP is 10x more powerful in control every part of the Chinese sociecty due to much stronger economy prowess of the state owned company.
But I digressed. I just want to say that the way the CCP runs China is like a much wealthier version of North Korea. But the way the propaganda machine works to achieve unity and cohesion in society is pretty much the same as any communist or "claim to be" socialist country. If there is an opportunity to insert propaganda, they will certainly try do it. This is the case for Chinese AAA games that receive money form State owned subsidiary. (not so much for Chinese indie games, as they run independently and most of them do not get the "distribution certificate" in China anyway. Many of them sell their games "illegally" on Steam. And most of the developers in China do not explicitly show their personal identity in the ending credits nor any other place, and the revenue goes through many layers of LLC to mix up their identity.)

I’m not a fan of souls-like games. After a long day at work, you just want to relax and enjoy a game… and then boom, you get killed by some random mob lol. Honestly, trainers really help me enjoy these games. With a trainer and maybe a little help from guides (like maps), the experience is way better in my opinion. You may give a try with trainer if you also afraid of dying from no where
Aren't there more relaxing games you can play than Soulslikes, which the OP already admitted to not liking? I honestly don't see what the fun is in cheating through a game other than like, The Sims or something, but I especially don't see the fun in cheating through games you don't like to begin with.
Sure, there are plenty of more relaxing games you can play. But at the same time if someone wants to play a Souls game and make it easier on themselves via cheats/trainers, who are we to judge or put their "skills" into question? I play Souls games with cheats myself because they're too hard, sure, but I still enjoy the heck out of the gameplay itself, the lore and the world. Though playing a game you yourself say you don't enjoy is kinda...weird I suppose. Though judging from the OP's comment, I can kinda guess what they don't like is the difficulty and the constant ganks.
I read the 1.3v patch note, they called it optimization, I donno what to say. This is not optimization, but to lower the default setting and add limitation. Do they know what they are doing?
this game runs like shit. stuttering and fps dips with my rig plus the forced dlss/fsr is so bullshit. everything the typical ue5 problems devs should stop using this horrible engine rtx 4070 super ryzen 7 5700x 8 core 32 gb ram

xD u mad, but it's no lie. Wukong, Wuchang, Project: The Perceiver, Where Winds Meet, Phantom Blade Zero, etc. etc. All the same UE5 slop, almost as if the companies share a template project and change assets.
The big problem with this game is UE5, it's such a hit or miss engine. It requires A LOT of optimization to run even half decently and not every company does it for some reason
A lot of people that pirate are also running older, suboptimal rigs, which doesn't help, either. The number of times I've seen people complain about a game not having a 32 bit release because they're still on Windows XP... Oof.
I mean, it also makes sense because older PCs might not have the capability to run modern games well, but decent enough for some to still experience it. Getting those games here instead of buying alleviates the risk of forking over $70 only to have the 2 hour clock run in the background to find out if their PC can run it halfway decently to still be eligible for a refund if not. There is no risk of that here, so I get why, also because having the money to build yourself a high-end machine with a 4090 could be rent money for most people.
Oh definitely- but those tend to be far and away not the people I'm referring to, because of how ancient PCs we're talking there. Often it's people in countries where electronics are very expensive too, like many in South America. No problem with anyone who uses pirated copies to test how well it plays on their system, but these people expect games to be made with settings for their old PCs to run them, and act annoyed if they aren't. XD
There's also "Overclocking" (OC'ing) of a CPU, system RAM and graphics RAM that may be of limited help (Barring the lack of advanced CPU instructions sets found in newer CPUs and an OS upgrade, if possible) to possibly make a new game playable at its lowest settings on an older rig.
Well, not ever one is as "well off" like Elon Musk to be able to afford a "Top of the line" custom built rig, despite Musk being a "Gamer Guru wannabe"!
I understand you, nowadays, not many AAA companies do the optimization like the old days. If you read the v1.3 patch note, they said they did the optimization, but in my viewpoint they did like a shit.
Attention all, the game is running like shit, no optimization at all. If you really wanna give it a try, make sure you have a NASA computer. There are some annoying bugs, maybe they are the features. :)
Oh yeah I've been hearing a lot of buzz about this one lately, lots of Souls youtubers have been reviewing it. It has some neat elements but unfortunately, as it stands right now, it has too many annoyances, especially in late game. For example, bosses don't have stamina so they just spam attacks over and over and over again. It's also WAY too easy to get stuck in animations and even in the scenario itself. There is ZERO balancing, it's either too easy or too annoying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SQWXhlsoKc&lc=UgxjnshtbKu1_2l_i3l4AaABAg.AKvf2lSh8meAKwXdQ19DRD This is a great review if you're interested,
Game looks very very good, and I'm actually getting pretty high FPS but even on a pretty strong machine (5080, i7-1200kf, 32 GB ram) moving the camera too fast makes everything blurry due to the forced upscaling. Game is not well-optimized, but I'm still enjoying myself. As for the gameplay, it's... pretty solid. I wish the animations canceled better and the stamina bar was a bit longer and refilled more quickly. But, I think overall the difficulty level is pretty good, it's not an enormously difficult game just right imo. Black Myth: Wukong is a much better Chinese game in this style, though.
But it's all good now, guys! Though it only dropped down the score by 0.000000 points, the technical issues (which were an afterthought) makes this a legit review!
Just ran it, had no issues. I think a lot of the complaints are from people running on low to mid-end PC's trying to run the game at settings beyond their means.
Adjust your resolution, adjust your graphic settings, and adjust your expectations. I will play more to see if I run into any hiccups, but at least the first 20 minutes of the game had no lag, and my PC is far from high-end.
From the comments I expected this game to be an absolute MESS, and it's far from it.
It runs about as good/bad as other UE5 games...great just great i f HATE UE 5 piece of trash engine, just wait for patches and patches and patches and pray maybe, what a shame coz game its f great fun with sexy af female lead and great enemy design.
It's only 21GB? Seems kind of small for a game like this. Either amazing compression, or just less content. But either way, I hope it will be enjoyable for me, even though I'm not a fan of soulslike
Steam mentions "60 GB available HDD/SSD space" is required, so yes, decent compression it is.
I also plan to play this, but I presume it will be enjoyed by people who are attuned to Souls formula and are willing to put up with frustrations found in these sorts of experiments.
Not really. Even souls fans aren't enjoying this one, look at stream reviews for evidence. Performance issues aside, it just has too many annoyances and baffling design decisions
Nah, Souls fans have been rejoicing because it's very much in the vein of Dark Souls 1, rather than the successors that became too action-oriented and not enough strategic/tactical thinking.
Yeah, I wrote comment after checking out the Steam reviews. Personally, I've learned not to take the Steam reviews too seriously when it comes to Souls games.
This may very well turn out to be a flop after some playtime, but from what I've seen and read, I do suggest Souls fans giving it a chance before writing it off.
I've seen video reviews from a bunch of souls Youtubbers, most of them mention the same thing, how the game starts to drag the longer you go and the more issues start to pop in, how balancing is atrocious and the difficulty is all over the place, how bosses are spam happy bullet sponges, all the unfair deaths, etc etc. Honestly, as a souls fan, this one is not for me. Too many annoyances.
im tried to play this game on my ROG ALLY X some of the bottons is working except the A botton guess. is this for only keyboard set up to play npt fot the controller? thanks
does the game compile shaders on the first launch?
If the game is UE5.3 and older then is problematic. UE5.4 20% faster on GPU, 100% faster on CPU - MindsEye UE5.5 I think has all shader pre-compilation UE5.6 another 35% faster on GPU out of the box parallelism of threads made by Epic, too late for UE5.0-5.3
or are shaders compiled on demand - thats's possible stuttering. by the way RC unfinished bussiness has constant traversal stuttering UE5.3 and RC rogue city is stutter free - but it is boring game most of the time.
It's crazy in general that games in UE5 mostly are only in a somewhat playable state if Frame Generation is active. It feels like either they design those games with that dependency because Frame Generation does a lot of heavy lifting if the Devs don't optimize it correctly or the problem is that UE5 is so unoptimized that games don't run well without Frame Generation to alleviate the problems UE5 causes. It's either or but being forced to use Frame Generation to have it somewhat running decently enough is really bad.
I think the issue is UE5 itself. It requires you to put a lot of work into optimizing it and not every company has the time or resources to do it(or they just get lazy) so they just force frame gen as a sort of stop gap measure. I can only hope that future patches do bring some actual optimization into the game
Yeah, something definitely seems off with UE5. Ever since more game came out on it, a lot of them have the same issue. Maybe they ran out of development time to optimize or, like you said, didn't have resources to figure it out. Still not very great if Frame generation is the only saving grace to keep UE5 games playable, not great, but playable (at least with a good PC. Older ones would still be a loss cause even with it.) It's a shame, I'd love to try this one, but if it runs that bad, then I'll probably wait and see if there are some stabilization improvements down the line.
Yep. That is exactly how they design it. And if you look at how "some" advertise their new graphics cards, HEAVILY pushing frame gen, yea. Optimization is completely thrown out when all the companies count with fake frames.
Having a lot of trouble downloading larger games like this without the torrent. Connection keeps getting interrupted, or I'm prompted to pay the host, etc.
MegaUp is the one where the connection keeps getting mysteriously interrupted. Mega.nz has a download limit for unregistered users which is less than the size of this file. The rest are just insanely slow for something of this size. I'm not complaining, I can wait for the torrent, but I do think it worked better when larger games like these were split into parts less than 5 GB in size.
If there's one that doesn't have any of those issues, I would be super happy to know!
MegaUp is the one I normally use and I don't experience such disconnections. Or, rather, I do but only in very rare cases, it's not very common for me. 1fichier USED to be faster but it isn't anymore, least not for me.
When you use megaup, I recommend you to use Jdownloader (or IDM), it will be more stable and can resume. In the browser, you still click on the download button as usual, until your browser is actually "downloading the file", then you press "Ctrl + J" to open the download dialog in the browser => cancel the download process => click on the "Copy download link" button/icon to copy the "direct link" => Go to jdownloader, paste "direct link" in => enjoy :D ....
Although it seems long-winded, it is quite simple, the speed will increase significantly, as well as if corrupted halfway, you can resume at any time. Megaup is quite good for me, its speed is always over 600mb/s.
update 1.5 triggers error
"The developers deleted some files (in fact, these are parts of previous patches that they replaced), the torrent does not touch them. They had to be manually deleted. That's why they interfered with the launch."
Tried to delete the file but still the same, anyone can help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
===========================================
Finished my first playthrough. I thought I was very thorough and explored everything, yet got the worst of the endings 😄
TLDR:
This game is a solid 7 out of 10 Souls-like for me, and I mean it as a praise. If you add some mods (easily installable), it becomes an 8.5 out of 10. I recommend it.
Pros:
As my final note; there are great mods for the game already. I am using the following list in my NG+ and I wish I had used them in my original playthrough. They mash with the game so well you'd think they were already part of it. You can download these from Nexusmods.
Mods for the game are located here on Nexusmods.
So, to sum it up so far, we are going to do the following in this order:
Download Wuchang Mod Enabler → Install this mod → Download Improved Recovery → Install this mod
"Drive:\Wuchang Fallen Feathers\Project_Plague\Content\Paks"
So inside "Paks" folder you'll have a newly-created "~mods" folder.
Something like this: "WFF_ImprovedKnockdown_20p_P.pak"
All you have to do is copy this file into that ~mods folder we created.
TLDR:
In a genre filled with repetitions and lackluster imitations, Wuchang pursues its own identity and that's surprisingly refreshing. I came in having watched no reviews with zero expectations and I'm immensely enjoying the combat and the visuals. I recommend it.
More Context:
Performance isn't as bad as you're told if you're not a 4K raytracing addict:
First off, the elephant in the room, the performance.
Not strictly a Souls-like, rather a spiritual successor to Nioh:
I jumped in only knowing this was a high-effort Souls game.
Other notable elements:
they only care for this
and since this is a unreal engine game its only a matter of time they start making horny crap
And also as for who I am is the reply the the guy below, I 've confused your avatar with Rob Conner
🤔
I've heard of "The First Descent" but don't really have any real interest in "Free to Play" games as I prioritize my limited free time towards playing full version [Not to say that all "Free to Play" games are not full version ones], retail games. If my limited, free time was not a factor then yes, I would try "Free to Play" games more often.
🙂
As for the remainder of your reply comment, I agree.
😎👍
Sounds like someone is in their "refractory period" 🤣🤣🤣
Sex sells.
Everything in Stellar Blade makes it worth to be protected by Denuvo, now that isn't a thing I would say easily.
Don't trust those shallow content creators, experience the game on your own - you will understand why it's so popular.
This is a video game. I stopped reading as soon as I saw words that weren't about the video game.
dont mind me
just watching the huge shitshow they did with the anima guy up there
Short of covertly arming any resistance fighters within Communist China, gathering the active military support of the Nationalists in Taiwan and the covert support of the CIA, the CCCP's regime is currently too powerful to overthrow by conventional means without instigating WW III should other powers be later involved.
If you don't change your ways then you'll probably miss out on all of the exciting fun whenever "Black Myth: Wukong" finally gets cracked (I remember that we had another similar discussion in another game page about your perceived political agenda behind that game).
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/social/china-offers-free-10-day-trips-to-us-social-media-influencers-with-subtle-messaging-goals-bloomberg-report/articleshow/121809790.cms
And most of the developers in China do not explicitly show their personal identity in the ending credits nor any other place, and the revenue goes through many layers of LLC to mix up their identity.)
thhank you
Honestly, trainers really help me enjoy these games. With a trainer and maybe a little help from guides (like maps), the experience is way better in my opinion.
You may give a try with trainer if you also afraid of dying from no where
go play candy crush or shits like that if you want casual crap friend
plus the forced dlss/fsr is so bullshit. everything the typical ue5 problems
devs should stop using this horrible engine

For example, in 2045 require like, a one million dollar PC To run just a "Optimized" Game.

After the backlash...
But it's all good now, guys! Though it only dropped down the score by 0.000000 points, the technical issues (which were an afterthought) makes this a legit review!
So validate me! I'm a real journalist!
