ahhhhh you mean those text adventures. Well, yeah, majority of them are rather mediocore and short, I ony like Vamipre: The Masquerade series ones, the rest are some woke cringe. >,< Though, visual novels and text adventures are two different things, you shouldn't really compare those.
Yeah, guess it can be argued. My logic stems from the question "what's a visual novel without the novel"? More text is needed to set the groundwork for the imagination whereas the VNs do it for ya. And, with CoG having a slew of products out, some can be a bit preachy without the quality of entertainment ... if any at all.
Then again, I am pretty biased against CoG. I appreciate the visuals the devs add to any game. And stating that catering to representation is one of the key features doesn't bode well initially. Till the day that they make a riveting storyline that flows well for those who identify as an indigo serpent who only mate through combustible substances while speaking in Parseltongue, I'm gonna say that there's no way to be thorough enough for something that unique without killing the world building - if it even matters at all.
If it's not a problem, please could you tell which group? I'm kinda curious.

Just anything with the word "choice" in the name. Pretty much the same company.
