If you are that certain it isn't AI, you should inform the mods of the forum from which you shared that image, so they can remove the "AI CG" tag from that game. A tag, that was added after some interesting discussion on that very forum π
If you've done a lot of AI work, I think the dev has some interesting tidbits to teach you, especially when it comes to utilizing AI for enhancement of sketches and doodles.
Edit: You are missing out by not reading the rest of the thread on that forum π
Yes, I'm aware of the discussion. According to what's there, it's not 100% clear that the creator used AI. The sketch I shared and the games he made before are proof that he does have the capability of producing that level of artwork.
The only βproofβ that it is AI, is from people saying it is. Mostly because of the anatomy mistakes.
As a matter of fact, if he had used AI you would not see many of the inconsistencies that people are pointing out on that discussion, and you would see many other artifacts that are present on AI art. The art would also be too perfect for his level of skill. People think AI is the only thing they can blame for those mistakes, but in real art, they are very common.
Now, he could have used it as a tool, but It's clear he doesn't have to, to reach that level of art. It would be disingenuous to be so certain it's AI, judging by what we know so far.
To my eyes though, which admittedly are not trained on every generative AI model under the sun, there seem to be some uncanny valley type of anatomical errors which are reminiscent of Midjourney productions. Specifically, the odd perspectives and limb rotations stand out.
I could absolutely be mistaken though. The same goes for those who, as you mentioned, attribute the faulty drawings to AI.
The consensus among those who suspect AI involvement, is that some form of it has been used in the process, and this isn't 100% AI.
And on that note, it would've been nice of the dev to address the issue when he was active on the thread; perhaps acknowledge or deny the allegations. He seemed to ignore the topic and then just leave. Although, understandably they don't owe an explanation to anyone and are probably busy with other commitments.
Nevertheless, this piqued my interest. Please share your findings with me when you reach a certain conclusion.
Anyway... π
Sarcasm is hard to detect these days, especially in written form.
Source: I did lots of AI and traditional Art to the point I can easily distinguish both.
