Approaching this game, the optics looked so alluring at first. But upon further inspection, honestly, I feel like ... I somehow expected more. This is a promising game and given that it's a one-man project and (based on Steam) his first, it can blossom into something great in the future. The premise and gameplay loop is interesting enough. It's not too complicated yet not trivial. It looks cute and there is progression involved. It's also very affordable and its price should be kept in mind when judging its quality. I like tactics games. I like hexagons. I like cutesy graphics. And I even like auto-battlers when done thoughtfully. That said, and without getting into details, this game screams Early Access while announcing to be version 1.0. Sure, it can be updated later but these days there are basic features we expect from a day-one full release. Some basic quality of life features are missing here; like, if you put a unit in a wrong spot via a missclick you can't undo that even if you are still in the planning phase. The 'stray from the main path' option is clearly meant to be a risk-reward concept that for some reason (probably resource constraints) is now turned into a punishment-only feature. No options menu in the game that I could find and there is no way to look at your units when you are in-between battles. So yeah, it is what it is. If the dev sticks with it, it can grow into a little game that is fun but also substantial and can be a reliable stepping stone for his future projects.
I would rather play that mobile port about having a bunch of Saxons defending islands against Vikings and then hopping to some other island FTL-style later - and even then my regard for that game is not so high that I would bother remembering its name.
I don't think so. Going off the designated path and getting ambushed is a matter of fickle RNG tosses. This is a serious disincentive against exploring the island.
After 5 defeats I finaly figured it out (+ some luck). Now I am at the end of map 3 and my path (white dots) goes thorugh a mountain. But I can't enter that tile. I wanted to reach the final battle other way, but there are mountains blocking all ways... any hint? Probably just a bug with random map generator... this game is fast, I can start over.
theres fix for it.. somehere on this site even someon posted it... its as if ur missing one of MOST BASIC BASE components of ur windows install!! ....Anyone remember the link and instructions for this fellow pirate to give as i dont remember atm? Itself in installler thers nothing wrong btw... So wanna play it? wait till someone answers with fix... dont delete!
