This is a remarkable game in its genre. However, a little heads-up to people who want to play it with an XBone controller. You may get stuck in the tutorial section and realize that after your first turn ends, your controller stops working entirely. It is a known bug for in the early days of the game in the XBox version. Basically the game reads your second controller (if it is plugged in) as the controller for the AI and disables your first controller entirely. So, if you have the same issue, your best bet is to remove other controllers (if any are plugged in). If it is still not solved it's probably because the game possibly recognizes your mouse and maybe other peripheral devices as a controller. You will need to pull them out from their USB ports as well ... or just resort to playing with keyboard & mouse which is a lot less trouble. I find it weird that this is still an issue in version 2.1.7 on PC ... but what can you do, eh? Still a fantastic game.

Steam is not needed. First you create a shortcut for the exe (if needed), then right-click the shortcut, click Properties. Add the option string to the end of the "Target" box. Click "OK" to complete.
It says "the name '...' is not valid.Make sure the path and filename are valid." I used the string from your comment(copied it without the quotes) and pasted it at the end of the target both inside and outside the quotes in the target section. Didn't work either time.
The option string must be outside and behind the quotes, though sometimes depending on the path we have to change it a bit. Try this: Target (64-bit): wargroove64.exe --opengl --skip-intro (modify accordingly if you're using 32-bit exe)
Had an audio bug with tons of crackling / poor quality audio. I opened windows sound properties (mmsys.cpl) and changed audio quality under advanced propeties from DVD to CD quality and that fixed the audio crackling completely.
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 it seems the problem is here (vcruntime140) either u lack the dlls or some files are corrupted or damaged, it is just a guess. Try a reinstall of that package
just asking, do you know where/how to get the custom content without being able to connect with the server? like maybe manually dl'ing files and place them in the right folder...
Does anyone know how to get into online multiplayer? Everytime I click on anything that needs online stuff it gets stuck on the "connecting to server" screen.
when i opened the game, it said there is no MSVCP140.dll and to reinstall the game (which I did 3 times) and then I looked on my computer's system and I have that .dll file. I even installed one on the internet and It's still saying no MSVCP140.dll. Somebody help
Seems to be a competently made medieval Advance Wars with story and mission structure similar to Fire Emblem. Some minor issues would be so many sudden events triggered by whatever make the 1st time you play a map kind of annoying game of guess where the enemy is going to come from, strong/weak vs info only using current enemy faction unit icons(ie. cavalry unit for undead has a hooded dude while for you it's a guy with a helmet and floran have something totally different) and skipping "cutscenes" and battle animation requiring you to hold a button for 2 seconds.
its a mix of advance wars and fire emblem, but it would be more awesome if there's a kingdom building/planning like in ni no kuni 2.. that aside, anybody know where/how to get the custom content without being able to connect with the server?
Kingdom building/planning? There's an option in the game that allows you to create your own Campaign and Map, with a variety of possibilities in event making.

Hey, idk why but the game crash everytime i click on "campaign". Everything work, but not campaing. I've also tried "local", and don't work too. I don't think my computer is the problem but why for me the game crash and not for others ? I also tried to re-download, don't work too. And it doesn't seem to save what i do, like settings. So please if someone have something to fix this issue (exept buy an another computer / buy the game) you're welcome !
Hello, i keep getting a error message when i try to start the game saying "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." idk how to fix this.
Search MSVCP140.dll in google: https://es.dll-files.com/msvcp140.dll.html Download the file (check if you have a 64 bits pc cause if you do, you need the 64 bits version of the file) and just copy paste it in C:\Windows\ System32 and Syswow64 (if you have a 64 bits pc)
Or just download VC redist that has the required files the game needs and doesn't cause crashes with future programs. So many people who have no idea what they're doing in these comments...

The game freezes when trying to start a new game contantly! Would be nice if this was checked out and fixed! Even tho im looking forward to buy this game. still gonna report about this issue
talking about referenced games. is this the same with Starbound? i suspicios this game will have insane hard mode like starbound if we have the pirated one? since the developer is Chucklefish.
Gorgeous graphics and if you like Advance Wars this is as close to that and refined with lots of quality of life improvements. The colors are really vibrant and it also has lots of customization options that allow you to create your own maps and campaign. Lots of replay value if you enjoy strategy turn based games. Not sure it does anything better than the Advance Wars on GBA or DS... But I guess HD resolution and widescreen are great. Edit: I take that back. It might be the best Advance Wars "clone" I ever played. I still prefer the fun atmosphere of AW, but this is great, really. Some bugs in the UI, though. Some clicks don't register properly, it seems.
