＊: As predicted, turned out to be a very underwhelming title. Reasoning are super easy, felt more like an engine demo, not serious challenges. Occult aspects are just a gimmick, everything is explainable, the few ones that seem supernatural are waved away and story continues. It's an interactive fiction (dunno if there're branches) with pixelated arts. The pixel art aspect is its strong suit. It has logical puzzles that involves reasoning.
Took a peek in English and unsurprisingly they wrote "Director-san" instead of "Mr. Director" I don't care if it's my favorite language, I see any of this sort of awful transliterations I'll switch to aother language.
Impression: Regardless of whether there are branches or not, the most important quality of interactive fiction is, whether the story is engaging. Well, I am an hour in and I'm not feeling much interest. It feels you're too much of an observer without agency, regardless of how much your "employer" wants to stress "We are just there to investigate." Its attitude toward urban legends/creepy stories is not serious enough that you don't really feel any stakes. That's only the first case in the game, but I'm not holding high hopes for the rest. Chapter epilogue features Japanese rap... unbearable. I mute the game when it's playing.,
Oh and also you can't make any saves. Game determines when it will save. Huge minus.
Start of chapter 2 mentions "The Great Reset". Interesting to see this mentioned in a Japanese game, regardless of the devlopers' attitude. Looks like it's just borrowed, not for some (((social commentary))).
