They mean you cannot download the game from the website http://Mega.co.nz anymore either because the file got removed or the website shut down. In other words, the download link is 'dead'; it doesn't work.
All files on this site are tested and clean. Anything your antivirus flags is a false positive (a lot of AV programs flag cracks as trojans since they function in a similar manner).
If you're having error messages, change the name of the folder "thestanelyparable" to "stanley", and all of your problems should be solved, this worked for me.
If you're getting an error message that says couldn't find gameinfo.txt then just create a folder named stanley and put the gameinfo.txt folder into it. Thats how I fixed that problem now it says couldn't load game_sounds_manifest.txt, i'll keep you guys updated if I find the solution to this problem also.
Okay, I found a solution to all our problems, just setup the game again. My setup sorta broke at the end and wouldn't continue so I exited it and thought everything would be fine but all I brought upon myself was problems. So to everyone expiriencing problems with this game, or any game for that matter, just reinstall it and set it up again.
Did you click "Make Desktop Shortcut"? If not, then go to My Computer. then your C: or D:, Go to Program Files, if you have Program Files ( x86 ), go there instead. Search/Scroll to find "The Stanley Parable" and go to the files. You'll find your game there.
yes its actually surprisingly simple thou u might not see this since its 2 years old anyway you find the file location of the game then right click on the the stanley parable.exe and left click seetings, then click on target and press space then type -console then press space again and type -devmode
So I download the file using the google link. From there I extract the .rar file using 7Zip Opener. I get a message saying that it could not complete extraction because the rchive maybe damaged. The only files I get out of it are an Icon (the game thumbnail), Data1 through 3 .bin files, and an autorun file that open as a txt document with this only: [AutoRun] OPEN=setup.exe ICON=icon.ico label=The Stanley Parable Can anybody tell me whats going on?
Watch out, if you launch the installer after it is installed, it will delete everything in that folder (unfortunately my whole game directory was there ;(
