The devs announced a while ago that they were working on a PS4 card game, which was gonna take up the majority of their time and resource.
TLL is a dead project; it's never going to be finished. This developer doesn't deserve an inch of your trust or money. ~ JordanLeHoz, 29 Sept 2019, 'STEAM Discussion' page So, yeah... unfortunately, this is as close as the latest EA update the game currently has; just to clarify...
The option of commanding an entire personalized crew with personal traits and some character to them would be nice in a game like this one. Would give it a go if so, otherwise a pass.
Seconded... Pixel Piracy is more your cup of tea, mate. It's 2D, and side-scrolling, but I sunk many an hour (and many a vessel) in that game. You literally get to micro every aspect of your pirate crew - their name, their individual skills and traits, their weapons, their role, their stat growth... It's so extensive that when Salty McSaltbutt gets killed, you want to weep like a little baby. But, if you micro well, your crew becomes an unstoppable horde, with the ability to make as simple or as advanced a ship as you deem fit. Give that a try to suit your micro needs, then when you want graphics, come back here.
