Yeah, the story behind it is quite inspiring. I remember people questioning their decision to take the mod and recreate it as a separate game. It took them nearly 5 years. But with all the abrupt changes to Nexusmods and the recent 'mod-pocalypse' I guess these developers are having the last laugh. At least they have an intellectual property they call their own; they have something to built upon as a successful résumé.
