Ignore the review below. This game is quite solid. Let's get the actual issues out of the way though: the game does have a few. Also, there's a quick TL;DR at the bottom. It's a bit buggy, bordering on unstable. It's crashed on me a few times, though most of them were for reasonable enough reasons. I haven't really lost any progress due to crashes, so that's good, but it definitely needs some work. The game also struggles a bit to explain its own mechanics, though there's nothing too complicated about it. The gore is weird, aesthetics aside. It's gratuitous but at the same time incredibly tame and clean; there's almost no blood at all, so the little giblets and scraps of metal look like plastic movie props in a simple anime/cartoon style. I've heard it's gotten flack for possibly being a "fetish" gore game, but that doesn't make sense either considering how the gore looks, and it's a moot point regardless. The "goriest" part of the game is perhaps the cultist burning to death animation; it's drawn out and sort of intense, but nothing super horrifying. There's some graphical issues and overall slight lack of polish; the occlusion culling is too harsh, which leaves small 'trails' of the skybox/background when you look around in certain parts of the levels, there's noticeable aliasing at long distances, some weird issue with mipmapping or something like that... Nothing is actually really bad at all, but it feels a bit unpolished: some of these issues I'm betting are due to Unreal's poor capabilities when it comes to old-school style FPP games though. Anyways, on to the game itself. It looks like a mix of Marathon, Alien and any dark 80's/90's scifi anime, and while it's not amazing or very innovative, it does a great job at having a cohesive, grim aesthetic and atmosphere, and the art is well done. The one thing to keep in mind, as other have mentioned, is that from what I've seen, all humanoid enemies (and certain bosses) are anime girls, all covered in some form of armor, suit, robe, or whatever, that makes it impossible to tell they're anime girls unless you go out of your way to look at the gibs. It's strange, but honestly not very noticeable at all, and it's justified by a premise and story that works well and isn't too in-your-face, so you can decide how much you wanna dive into it. The gameplay is simple, tight, fast and satisfying. A good DooM-like in that respect, with pretty varied, generally well-balanced weapons, and a respectable slew of enemies with basic-but-functional design. Jumping, shooting, kicking, killing, etc, all feels great, from the visuals to the audio design and the feedback; it's responsive and impactful without going overboard. You even have a Mech you can pilot for certain levels/sections, that is quite nimble and fun to use (though the game lacks enemies that match up to you, as even other Mechs are ground-bound and comparatively sluggish). There's a fair share of platforming, and a good mix of close quarters brawls, more expansive arenas, and a few claustrophobic/labyrinthine sections for good measure. While the level design isn't always stellar, there's no levels so far that I'd consider bad; the levels do their job well, and the classic door-key progression is never abused to make the levels longer. As the game itself highlights, there's also plenty of places that encourage kicking enemies off of platforms, through windows, into spikes or lava, etc. Do be careful on falling down yourself, though, as the game will kill you and restart the whole level unless you've activated a checkpoint (which aren't all that common or even present in every level). There's no proper save system, like the one you'd have in DooM, you're entirely dependent on the automatic saves between every level transition, which sucks but isn't the biggest deal. Let's talk difficulty and balance. The game's pretty well balanced, though it's overall not very difficult, even on Hard. One of the more noticeable causes of this is the long range engagements, some of which feel unintended. Whenever you're at a long distance, you have a HUGE advantage over every single enemy I've seen so far: for starters, a bunch of them aren't even able to attack you from very far, which effectively turns them into target practice. I've found myself consciously making an effort not to snipe far away enemies so I get to experience the intended encounters, or more intense combat scenarios in general. Another thing that makes the game easier than it should is the instant healing from using medkits (bloodpacks), that can be used in very quick succession. This is easier to steer away from, but it can be easily exploited. On that topic, the game has a "hunger" system which is kind of interesting, where your max health & stamina depend on it. It doesn't affect the gameplay too much at all, which means it at least isn't an annoyance. There's also armor, which functions as a surprisingly resilient extra bar of health, but it's handed out sparingly enough. Back on the topic of difficulty, the game can throw challenging situations at you, and if you're not careful you can die very fast, but it never keeps you on that 'high-risk' level for long, save maybe the bosses. Its leniency with ammo and supplies also means it's usually low-stress, perhaps as an attempt to allow for faster, less thorough playstyles that don't stick around to loot every nook and cranny and look for secrets and supplies. TL;DR Overall, it's a great pick if you enjoy fast FPS games. It's smooth, enjoyable, bullshit-free, and it's accessible enough to be played by less experienced players, while still offering a fun challenge for genre veterans like me. The soundtrack is pretty good, the download is pretty small, and you're in for a pretty good time (if you don't mind the dark/oppressive feel lol), so what are you waiting for? P.S: If you picked the wrong difficulty level (Faith - Easy, Devotion - Normal, Zealot - Hard), use the cheat menu at the top left of the pause screen. It'll save your choice permanently once you change levels too, so you only need to do it once.
finished the game and meh i regret wasting my time on this even my homies from my pb discord channel said this game its lame as fuck gameplay becomes extremely repetitive with the same map texture all the time, i honestly was starting to get bored in the last stages
That's fair enough, not everyone's bound to enjoy the same games. I think coming into an old-school FPS and being surprised by repetition is a bit ridiculous, they are repetitive by nature. There's not really going to be different gameplay elements in a game like that, you get what you 'paid' for. What matters is that playing the game stays fun and engaging, and to me it's done so so far, with short and decently varied stages that gave me a lot of different situations and ways to shoot, kick and blast enemies to pieces. Perhaps not playing it in one sitting has also helped my enjoyment of it.
English warning - may cause seizures. my opinion i finshed the game when they uploaded it to the site for the 1st time (i mean without updates) i was amazed that i encountered only 1 bug and i was expacting more cuz my pc is totally shit and others comments, i wonder where is the other bugs (when u get the finel weapon and change it, u cant select it agien (Btw There is no reason to change it (u know if u finshed the game) but i said lets test that XD)). The Game was solid but depressive, i mean i felt bad killing all those lolis Sp when u shoot them at the legs and their cropse moves, when i kill the flame thrower, which have the prettiest face in the entire game or when (as u mentioned) kill them with flame thrower, otherwise its very good game Shooting, dodging, multiple ways to kill, mechs are OP, 2nd fire mods i really love this game Weapons are kind meh, i mean i ended the game using the auto rifle and sniper, used other weapons for 2nd fire mods like the chain shotgun (idk if its the right name) with flame thrower Tbh i would finshed it using the magnum as its satsfiying to kill with it and its reload animation is good, but late levels u wont find enough ammo Buying also is kind bad as i didnt know how it worked i mean when u buy upgrade it dosent tell if u bought it (Bought or upgraded test on the item) so u should remember what upgrades you bought, And also u dont know what the upgrade it self do or if they would stacked (i didnt test that cuz it cost way alot) Story telling is also bad (at least for me cuz i didnt understand)
SPOILER ALERT <<< i really felt bad after killing the one (forgat her name) that u find her between levels and i didnt know why, is she one of the angels, but she spawned me so what happened, or why i'am fighting everyone in the 1st place or what did the sleeping god did to deserve to die? i would recommend the game for everyone after sometime when most thing are fixed and improved, but hey why waiting if u can play it now. btw idk if this is count as bug but the sky and ground are totally black. Btw where can i found zealot difficulty???
I love Doom. But this game is garbage. Boring levels, lacking in both architectural sense and variety. The enemy sprites and gore look terrible since they orient themselves towards the camera entity instead of the view surface, which makes them look like cardboard cutouts. Especially the gore, as it floats around like pieces of confetti - its both hilarrious and sad. It looks like the author was inspired by The Shrine series visuals and few others, but clearly had no artistic sense of his own. This game is not worth the time spent with it. Downloading a free doom TC like REKKR or Adventures of Square will ensure better pastime. Or replaying Amid Evil.
An old-school inspired FPS that isn't Early Access? Holy shit, how about fucking that! Every time I watch "Civvie 11" or see an interesting shooter popping up on Steam, it's always EA and I'm really sick of it.
The gameplay of this game is very enjoyable , and the control is good , but it need more polish and fix a lot of bugs to be one of the great FPS in this year . Try it guys .
well fuck someone has a weird fetish of mixing anime girls getting brutally slaughtered brutal doom style a little awkward but anyway let see what kind of shit is this
I arrived early, I was able to download from Google Drive 😁 I am playing and WTF DUDE!, It is doom with lolis and it is not that the main character is a loli but everybody. Doomguy = loli, demon = loli, etc. But I like old school fps games and I like the sprites don't looks pixelated.
Happened to me and solved it that way

i really love this game
Weapons are kind meh, i mean i ended the game using the auto rifle and sniper, used other weapons for 2nd fire mods like the chain shotgun (idk if its the right name) with flame thrower

Buying also is kind bad as i didnt know how it worked
