Is this your first time using pirate? It's okay, everyone has their first time, even me more than 10 years ago. I will be happy to guide you. You see the name of this release "The Cabin Factory-TENOKE", it's not mine, I just re-uploaded it from SCENE, in this case the TENOKE team (you don't need to search their website, since it's not public on the internet, websites you find are known to fake and use the names of groups at SCENE).

What is Scene? you should search the wiki and google about this, they will explain it better than me. In general, the scene is decades old, certainly older than you (and me). It is completely safe. All the pirates you download from the internet, including movies, games, software,... are mostly leaked from the Scene.

When you download a game (or anything that comes from Scene) from sites like IGG, you can easily check the legitimacy of the file you downloaded. By using database sites taken from the scene, for example https://www.srrdb.com/browse/category:pc/order:date-desc/1,... You use tools like 7z, to check the file's HASH code, and match it with information from those web pages. If the hashes match, you are completely safe, and vice versa.

Thank you roosevelt2362 for answering me and clarifying things.

First of all, no this is not my first time. I am using this website for many years already. Most of the times my malewwarebytes doesnt say "Virus" on stuff, especially not when its from TENOKE. So I trusted it successfully for many years now. However I am a coward when it comes to specific warnings like "Trojan X.XXX.123" etc. where it tells me what it has found.

I know that most of the time I can "ignore" the windows warning of "unknown exe" but when my malewarebites warns me, I get sceptical.

Maybe you can help me on this so I can gain trust again. For example, I learned about the mirrored fake IGG website few weeks ago which looks identical to thos website and that is stuff that scares me then cause I don't want to accidentially download some serious problems for my system.

And how do I use that website you linked there with the HASH code check? Sounds interesting, I really want to try that but I would need a bit more instructions please ♥.

It's okay, AVs are always like that, they always update their database periodically. For example, with the same file abc, today they may not warn about the virus, but after a few years, they warn about the virus on that file, and even after a few years, they don't warn anymore... It's always like that, recently AV probably updated their database, they mainly scan inside the iso file, if it finds a crack with TENOKE's signature, it will warn.

I think you've been pirate for a long time, so you must know about SCENE (the pirate publishing groups of the world)? They are always safe, 1000% :D... if they spread the virus, the whole pirate world will be destroyed. Because all the pirate releases in the world mostly come from them, including movies, anime, music, games, software,... I think I won't mention this much because you probably already know.

So with SCENE releases, how do you know that you have downloaded a SCENE release (instead of a modified one)? Well, it's easy. SCENE has dozens of rules and uses. Among them, you can use scene database pages, like srrdb. I will give a specific example with this game.

  1. After downloading the game from SCENE, you will definitely have an iso file, right?

  2. Do you have 7z on your windows? If not, install it https://7-zip.org/download.html.

  3. After installing, you can get the CRC-32 code of the iso file by:
right click on the iso file -> 7-zip -> CRC SHA -> CRC 32

  4. After you have the code, go to the following page to compare https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/The.Cabin.Factory-TENOKE. Scroll down to the bottom, you will see the image.
    Uploaded Image

  5. If your code and that page match => This is the iso file of SCENE => You are safe. Otherwise, let me know.

PS: if you intend to ask what is the CRC-32 code, it is the code to verify the integrity of the file (you can search google for more about this). For example, you even try to create a file "abc.txt", with the content "111", you try to get the CRC32 code of this file. Then, you try to change the content of that file to "222", get the CRC32 code again, you will see the code change. In other words, if the content of a file changes, the code will also change, there is no way to make different contents have the same CRC code

Roosevelt2362 I must thank you a VERY (!) lot! Not did I just learn so much more today but also how to be safe for the future as well! I really really appreciate your words, thank you very much!

And no, I must admit I never heared of SCENE before. I am just one of these users who used to use EMULE once it was new and then learned about this website here like 5 years ago. You can tell I was lucky to not crash my shit then haha. But now with your instruction I really know how to be save in future, I thank you a lot for that!

I will download this game again here and follow your instructions. I will then let you know if everything works fine (as I assume now it will =)) but also for other users to read in future maybe. Cause I guess viruses are still the main "alert" for the most people to not use websites like IGG, even though IGG is save ♥.

I believe that many people are like you, usually people don't care much about how pirates work :D, because everyone has concerns in real life, hehe. If you want to learn about SCENE, you can read this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warez_scene

The reason I say that SCENE releases are 10000% safe is because almost all pirated stuff on the internet comes from SCENE, like movies, music, anime, games, software, porn,... in general, everything. That process has been going on for decades, so if one day SCENE disbands, then you know, there will be no more pirates.

I give you some websites where you can track SCENE release information in real time.
