The bonus carrot is similar to Celeste's strawberry, however IIRC there's a safe zone in Celeste that verifies you've passed the strawberry challenge, where as, there's none here; meaning if you die while holding the carrot, you need to start over from the stage's beginning.
The most serious problem is there's a flash the moment you die that's disencouraging for gameplay, considering one will die a lot, straining the eye.
I stopped after some level past the first boss due to the issue above.
Decision to place the ability counter to the top and bottom is a strange choice, did not help in my opinion. Also the 0.5x speed seem to be only able to be triggered once instead of refreash after cool down. Pixel art was just ok, the palette give a monotone feel. Also did not find the music to my liking.
