In case you guys were wondering, I was the one who suggested Tachyon: The Fringe to be posted for this site, so you all should thank me. I was surprised no one else even bothered to do it.
Believe it or not....still have the CD ROM of this old gem saved up in my game archives. Games used to be completely done before they were released. It was indeed a good tradition to keep.
Never played it. The last Space "Sim" I properly played was Freespace 2 back in the day. Damn these capital ship lasers were awesome as were the nebulae.
I have owned and still play a copy of this game since 2000. This is an Excellent game with awesome voice acting by the King of B movies. I might get this copy if there is something new added to it but the description doesn't indicate any good reason why they would be uploading it at this time. Get the NGlide Wrapper so you can have wide screen support!
People play Minecraft with ray tracing and it still looks like crap and it's popular. - Forget the graphics even though this game has some great mods to help out sometimes the story carries the aging graphics as in the case of the 1998 game HardWar - It's got mods and patches and now it's 100% Free. It's got dog fighting, trading, a living breathing open world with working economy and an awesome story. http://zedo.hardwar.info/
kiddies these days play overrated garbage like that SSSSSSSSSS game you mentioned and certain cancerous piece of shit who is an insult to the FPS world
I agree this game is still Worth Playing. Get the nGlide Wrapper for widescreen support and use a joystick like the Logitech Attack 3 not a xbox type controller and you'll have a blast dog fighting in this amazing universe with awesome story. There are visual enhancement mods, a Freespace total conversion mod, patches, online multiplayer and other goodies found here http://www.fringespace.org/
TRIPLE SIX, FIVE, FORKED TOUNGE
