Indeed. The last update it got was in May 2021. A bit confused why now this was added here. It's been on Steam since 2021. But I guess someone requested it and it's here now.
My opinion and all, buuuuut I never could understand why it takes up to a decade for some {Harem Hotel, A Pact With a Witch) to churn out a game of this genre using RenPy and whatever program that better NOT be Daz3D for their visuals. Is it the branching path works that throw them off, having to trace back and make an alternative story? Is it the constant updating the more you improve? ....Is it the trickle of updates to keep you PayMeTon supporters bleeding cash the reason?
Sorry, but IMO, the last one is the primary suspect.
Obviously, not every developer fits this mold, but for a good portion of them, the main goal is not to finish and ship their product, rather to cultivate a consistent base of paying supporters.
There are hundreds of these games out there, most of which fade in obscurity. So when a developer makes a splash in the scene (pun intended) and garners some publicity, they know they've struck gold; they've found the holy cow with massive boobas ready to be milked for years. Something that may not be replicated in their future projects.
Moreover, "PayMeTon" doesn't legally bind anyone to deliver on promises. So as long as they manage to keep the 'hopium' levels of their supporters high, they can keep the train moving.
Now add to this the real-life problems; like the fact that almost all of them are solo devs, the taboo nature of the work requiring extraordinary mental resilience, the devs' lack of adequate technical skills, and personal/familial problems, and you have a project that takes 5 years when realistically it should take up to 6 months.
So yeah, it's messed up. But then again, many see them as the last bastion of freedom of expression, in a world where every game is streamlined and must be politically correct and follows a tired formulaic recipe.
o.o Woah.... What you said is amazingly well put together. Always with the quality comments. :) I appreciate that.
Taken those who do have some real drive to want to see their product shipped and enjoyed (Slay the Princess), they are usually a small battalion. Just so aggravating and becomes a stigma that whenever the combination of RenPy and Koikatu/Honey Select/Daz3D (ugh) asset it's already frowned upon. Donest have to be that way, but it really do be like that sometimes. =\
Thanks for the kind words. And likewise, I enjoy and learn from your comments :)
That is unfortunately do be true. They can dilute the market for the actual great and finished games and exacerbate the cynicism of already jaded customers.
But to be real, these "adult" adult games have a clear and obvious advantage over their non-"adult" competitors in the market 🍑 And perhaps they are not competing in the same niche at all, even if they use similar tools.
But if they do happen to compete for the same customers, it is indeed an unfair fight. It's like Superman vs Batman. One of the two has a clear inherent advantage over the other 😅
Only getting it here since the game is dead and the devs have been silent on Steam. Was going to buy it when it became an active project but after years why pay $2.99 for it when I can get the game free.

Please don't let me be right about the last part.
