For those who are wondering why a Chinese dev studio would be make an Arabic-centric game - Some Chinese people are Muslim (of the Islamic faith) as Arabic traders created the "Silk Road" to the promote the trade of goods (And spread religon) between the Near East and the Far East (North Western part of China) since 130 BC (Or BCE, if you're not religious). There are also some Chinese people who are of the Christian faith (eg. - Catholicism, Presbyterianism) as Christianity was spread across China by the missionaries starting from the 7th century AD.

Historical, Muslim-centric (religious) games may be hard to find, if that's specifically what you're looking for. Instead, try searching Reddit pages for user suggestions about historical, games set in the Middle East. Also manually search Wikipedia's extensive list of games set in the Middle East (May have historical and fictional games - If you find something that you may like then search for the game here using this site's search engine).

Broadening the scope further, there are also some fun, general audience, Arabian themed games like the "Shantae" series of games and even provocative games like "Belly Dance Girl" on this site for your pure pleasure (You'll need to post a "Re-Upload" request for the "Belly Dance Girl" game in the Game Request page since all of the mirror links are now dead).

That isn't really true. There are almost no real Muslims in China nowadays besides Xinjiang's Uyghur region anymore. Those in Ningxia, Gansu, and Qinghai aren't real Muslims. The CCP is actively creating obstacles to prevent Muslims from becoming couples. Basically, if you are a minority race, you have to marry a Chinese non-Muslim Han. Because marrying another minority race who believes in Islam and getting certified as a couple in China is extremely difficult. If you insist on doing so, you are forced to give up a lot of personal rights. For instance, you will never be issued a passport. That means you can never go abroad. Even inside China, you cannot go to the capital, Beijing, and you must report where you are on a weekly basis. If you want to leave your city,y you have to notify your local police bureau ahead of time. If you stay in another city for more than a few days, you have to physically show up at the police bureau when you arrive and then physically show up every few days. And there are no Muslim schools in China. Your child will be taught atheism in the classroom. In the majority of the cities in China, you can't find even a single mosque. In the very few cities where there is a mosque, it is heavily censored and controlled. You will find PLA soldiers holding a loaded gun, standing in front of the mosque every single day. And before you enter, it's like going to an airport, all personal belongings are going to be scanned and searched. Only those who are loyal to the CCP can become a preacher. Most Muslims in China nowadays are merely pseudo Muslims at best where they never even read Qur'an and Looks and behave just like a Chinese Han. The only real Muslims in China are mostly in Uyghur, but as soon as you search on Google, you know what atrocity the CCP is committing right now. Stop acting like a CCP bot and spreading propaganda. As for a whyChinese dev make a Muslim game. It is simple, just like Japanese, Chinese people make whatever games they find suitable for a back story. Just like King Arthur (Saber) in fate stay night, pope in index toaru etc. One of my favorite game of all time. Warrior of the Nile both 1 and 2 are made by Chinese Dev. It was Egyptian inspired game, does that mean the dev have egyption haritage?

3/5

A game that wannabe "deep," but turns out the story is pretty shallow.

It was somewhat fun for 1 round, and depending on how fast you play, this one round may cost 10 hours. But it was only fun for 2-3 round. There aren't that many different events in the game. That means you will always encounter same events in every run, so you know what is happening and what the consequences of each choice are. This is a huge downside consider it is a text-based game.

And I have to remind you, this game is not in early access, and we do not have any clues how long this game is going to be updated in the future. Most Chinese devs have a propensity to abandon games earlier than some of the Western counterparts. I'm not saying all of the games are like that, but we Chinese don't even trust a Chinese game developer who has a game labeled as early access.

A big selling factor of this game is anti-woke, featuring women as playthings, disposable, and men are the superior gender and have the right to keep concubines for pleasure, etc. You know, Muslims are allowed to have 4 wives type of jazz. This is a compelling reason for some people to leave positive reviews. But if you don't consider those anti-woke features and just think about the game itself, as a text based+RNG involved game I can't really give it a 4.

So my conclusion is a high 3/5, not yet 4/5, a game of this type need to have twice amount of random events than the current version to be considered as a 4/5. If I really have to make an analogy, it's like stellaris without any dlc. And that's how few random events there exist in this game rn.

Eg, Consider if Disco Elysium/Stein Gate/VA-11 is a 5, choas child/danganronpa/P5 is a 4, this game can only be a 3, and I think it was very fair. If you think this game is on par or better than with some of the games above so this game should be a 4/5 or even 5/5, please let me know, I'd like to hear your thought.

Edit: Some people might think this game offers so many different endings, hence this game is amazing! But in reality, this is really the norm and standard for this genre. From the viewpoint of this genre's entirety, you do not really feel you are part of the grand world, I'm not saying the game have to make you feel you are inside of Harry Potter or game of Thrones or inside of the witcher's world and actually experience one man's whole life from childhood to love to all of the struggle. But everything in this game just feels very flat. The advantage of a text-based game is that you actually feel you are that person in the game. I'll use Witcher 3 as an "not apple to apple" example due to many may not know some of the game I reference. Do you not feel you are Geralt himself when playing that game? But do you feel you are some one himself in this game? Even if I bump it up to 4/5, it will never become a 5/5. The bones and the quality in this game are really not there. I hope you see where my point is coming from.

I agree, it's a good game. My taste in games is far beyond anyone on this planet and this game peeked my interest, which is extremely rare nowadays. I actually feel like I have choices and they matter in this game. I have suspicion of it being scripted, but I can't really say, which means it's good enough as far as nowadays standards go. It's better than nearly all AAA games that's for sure. <3 01 8

Will you at least consider read my reason for drop it down to 3/5 in the last paragraph? Consider if Stein Gate or VA-11 is a 5, choas child/danganronpa/P5 is a 4, this game can only be a 3 and I think it was very fair. As far as a text-based game goes, what this game offers is above average but not beyond the norm of this genre. Simply most people would never play a text-based game, and this may be the first of this kind to some of the player. But it does not make it a superior, many kinetic visual novels (non-romantic) give you far more choices and routes and a more comprehensive worldview and immerse yourself far greater than this one, where your choice REALLY matters and you grow with the character as the advanture goes. It's not only about how this game makes you feel as a stand alone game, It's more of how does it compared to its peers. I would recommend if you ever got the chance to play some of the game I mentioned above, then you would feel this game is very flat in comparison.

Some rough edges here and there but this is fairly stylish game with some original gameplay, also doesn't take 2 hours to figure out what the hell you're supposed to be doing like cultist sim

Looks like an Aztec guy.

I reckon that its "inspired by" the Chinese own experiences and impressions of Arab cultures. Maybe even largely through a lens of India and Buddhism.

Its very cool looking.
It seems respectful, if its not historically accurate.

This is the World and anything is possible, my friend! Arab traders did trade with the people of India who in turn also had trade and exchange of information with their Chinese neighbors. Buddhism also spread into China from India (Most Indians were already Hindu (Some are Sikh), so Buddhism didn't really take a major hold in India) and from China to Japan (To become Zen Buddhism).

There is a picture in the first promo video of a supposed "Arabian woman" (A princess(?), judging by the gold jewelry that she wears) whose garment kind of resembles an Indian sari in overall form. So it's possible that "artistic license" was exercised by the artists in the making of the artwork and graphics of this game.

on this note, beside trade, the biggest impression they both had on each other was when they met in central asia while both were expanding politicaly and militarily, that led them into conflict which ultimately ended in arabs winning against the chinese(fairly complex wars) and practicaly removed all the chinese influence in central asia, its a very interesting series of wars/politics to read considering the severe and varied challenges both had to overcome to bring men and supplies.

When I left my original comment, I had completed a total of four winning runs. Two people think I'm wrong and that this game is amazing. So I played it for a couple more days and completed ALL major routes (many achieved by manually backing up the save and reloading to see other routes). Now I can confidently say, this is as 3/5 as it gets.

Those 2 think this game is AMAZING probably never played similar types of games. Giving this game anything above 3/5 is blasphemy to other significantly better in the same genre. As for a detailed analysis of this particular game, including some of the tricks of winning consistently on the highest difficulty, I can write a longer piece. As for why I think it is only 3/5, I think I explained plenty in my review down below, and the reason is very clear.

Hi, could you recommend some similar games? I only know Cultist Simulator, and that was a 9/10. This one would be around a 7/10.

I would suggest Disco Elysium or VA-11 at the start, then if you are intrigued, I could recommend games with better story and gameplay with worse visual design. 'Cause not all players will ever play a game that is fun but plain-looking.

I played both Disco Elysium and VA-11 they are not similar to this also i didn't like Disco Elysium (too slow and too much reading) but VA-11 was fun, what i mainly care about is the game loop not visuals.

That would be difficult, because a lot of reading is the premise of such a game to allow you to fully immerse yourself into that world depicted in the game and truly feel the consequence of your actions rather than a few lines says this person died and you just have 1 less NPC to worry about. For less text, there is a game called "80 Days" you could try. Else, in less text, VN and JRPG are already out of the picture. Just wanting the strategy side of it with less text, check "Choices Matter" and "Choose Your Own Adventure" idk already, originally I was about to mention "A Dark Room" as an example, but now I think "slay the Princess" maybe is for you?
