@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error). By doing one of the following:
Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:
Method 2: or after installing the game, open the iso file, copy everything in the "RUNE" folder, then paste them to where you installed the game, enjoy ;) (see tutorial image here if you still dont know: https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html)

We have just re-uploaded the version that includes all languages. To use a language other than English (default), you must select it before installing, see image:
I turned off the system antivirus and firewall, followed the prompts to install, and overwrote the original file with the cracked file. However, when I run Stronghold Crusader Definitive Edition.exe, it will run Steam and pop up a report: "An error occurred while launching this game: No licenses" Is there anyone who has solved this problem? Can you share any experience? Thank you so much
what OS are you running? win 10, 11, 7, 8??? more specific 22h2, 23h2, 24h2 etc?
nvm i have dual boot, it works just fine on the latest version of win 11 24h2 and 23h2... (my 24h2 is a fresh install with everything on) outside of having an exclusion set for my game drive locations.
Downloaded the newest version from MegaUp, installed it, but when i start it nothing happens. it wont start, no error or something. whats wrong? after installation the vrcredist installation also told me, the setup wont work cuz already installed. could you help out? thank you!
ah i forgot, RUNE seems to have updated their installer interface, so the checkbox no longer exists. BTW, can you take a screenshot of the game folder? i'll see if anything looks wrong
yesterday i fixed it - i just forgot to copy the folder and exe into the installed folder. but today it wont start anymore, even if i re-move the items of the folder into the installation folder. it just wont start anymore, it only starts steam with a "no license" info

a PC restart solved this (after restarting, Steam updated itself), but the game doesn't work - after launching it, it opens Steam and says "An error occurred while launching this game: No licenses"
I saw it, there are two methods, none of them worked with the initial version uploaded. I reinstalled the game multiple times, copied crack multiple times, turned off internet, blocked in firewall, nothing worked. Now downloading the reupped version and will see if that finally works
the latest version has the same issue. copying the "crack" doesn't help, the game launches steam and steam says "An error occurred while launching this game: No licenses"
are you running win 10, 11, etc??? 22h2, 23h2, 24h2?
Nine times out of ten, its usually do to antivirus software as was mentioned already. Espically since this doesnt launch steam to play. So, its most likely due to the crack being removed/improperly added. Go into whatever your AV software is, and add a folder exclusion for where this games downloaded/installed. yes, download location, and where you aim to install/place the games main folder.
Im downloading this now, ill add screenshots of "steps" to install. (this is with your folder exclusion already added) for the download location and where your going to install. -if you dont add this exclusion, your antivirus software will continue to remove the crack files rather you see it being held in quarantined section or not. as sometimes it removes it without prompt. Since this is a RUNE release (well known in SCENE groups) its safe enough to allow that exclusion in most people's computers since RUNE is highly trusted.
if you dont know how to add this exclusion for the folder location. google it... add whatever your antivirus is and look up "how to exclude folder location in (name of antivirus software) in windows". itll show you how. (turning it off will/should allow the game to work, but once you restart your computer, or an update happens etc. itll remove the crack files again and youll still have issues. thus "excluding the download folder, and installation directory" are always something said.
now for those screenshots with "steps". extract (again, have exclusion set up already!) run installer
note, manually changed games installation location by clicking "browse"
install as normal
now, open the RUNE folder inside the installer's folder (its where the installer is, but the RUNE folder that's in there, open that)
highlight those three files i show in that RUNE folder (again, inside the installer's directory)
now, recall where you installed the base game. mine was F:\Games\Stronghold Crusader Definitive Edition MULTi20 right click inside that folder (anywhere you wish) hit "paste". (if it asks to overwrite anything, yes for it all).
steam isnt open or running for this as the other's said. see images of game running (first time i tried, launched right away) yes, im aware this is long. but this should work for you, unless its limited to not work on 24h2 systems (edit) i have 23h2 and dual boot for 24h2. it worked on both for me... (latest version of 24h2) (also note) i did NOT install the vc redist stuff. i never do since its already installed and up-to-date on my pc.
hopefully it helps, and they were copy/pasting the whole folder and not the stuff inside of it to the games directory... i also hope it makes sense too lol

did copy crack to installation folder of course
The issue is that for a lot of other people - myself included - it works fine. Apologies for not being able to help.
