The method used to crack games is similar to the method used to code malware! Anti-virus programs will detect the crack as a virus and delete it, even though it isn’t! :)
Experience :D. But the simplest, in this case, this game. It was released from HOODLUM, and they are scene, so there will never be a virus. If you don't know what a scene is, you can search the wiki.
To make sure the file is valid, you can use this site to check the HASH/CRC for files coming from the scene: https://www.srrdb.com
Here now, Roosevelt. Is there a website or listing that shows all the legitimate scene coders out there ? We as downloaders can look for these names before we download.
I would also like to add that there are a great many installers I've used from IGG that do NOT register as viruses. So it should be possible to write installers that do not get flagged notwithstanding they are viruses or not.
I don't quite understand what you mean... If I understand correctly, you're probably looking to "see what releases from the scene". If so, you can take a look through this link: https://www.srrdb.com/browse/category:pc/order:date-desc/1
That link will update in order of latest releases.
To check if a file from the scene matches what exists elsewhere (like IGG site,...), you can use "search" (at the top of the web page), type the game name the game you want to test, then click on that release's link. You'll see it list columns and rows,... In the "CRC" column, that's the file's CRC code. Once you have the CRC code of that file, you can compare it with the CRC code of the .iso file (which you downloaded from IGG or somewhere you downloaded). If they match, the file is legit.
In addition, maybe you can ask "how do I get the CRC code of a file on my PC?" You can use 7z, it's built in (Search google for how to check CRC via 7z, it's very easy)
Thank you, Roosevelt. Very useful information. I'm checking the link now and yes - I use 7z every day.
While I have you on the horn could you please point out a legit and verified site that handles other files, not just games, such as TMPGENC, Soundforge, etc. Also not torrents but downloads from other known sites - like IGG uses.
Outside of that I hope this information proves to be useful not just for me but others who have had and do have the same inquiry.
Recommended for puzzle genre lovers. The atmosphere is a bit dark but the puzzle is interesting. You played as young woman witnessing the final days of a mysterious ancient world. https://youtu.be/aBXPf2DfMc0
Trojan:Win32/Occamy.CC0
Trojan:Win32/Vigorf.A
If these are false positives it's odd that 2-different anti-virus detected them. Please confirm virus free. Thanks !
