Actually, the activation key isn't that big of a problem, because, as they say in their website, the same key works for multiples PCs, so as long as they don't change that, we will be alright.
So as of this date the new update if you install in their main website still works with the key even if you unistall the old version or delete God Bless Sseths Key
Thanks should rightly go to Alex, the game developer. He could have excluded the key from the newer version that came out a bit after the Sseth video, but he didn't, he allowed us to play it pirated, because he knew some of us would like it so much - we'd buy it afterwards. If only more devs were like him...

Click the "Buy Starsector" button in the top right, on the next page, there are 3 golden buttons bellow the "Preorder Now" button, to download the installer for Windows/Linux/MacOS. But it's better to download from here, the installer is the same, you just don't download from the game developer's site, for which the developers have to pay for download bandwidth. Edit : typo

A bit skeptical at first since it's a top-down perspective, 'mostly' 2D graphics, and smaller size (as in game's file size, not game's content size). But finally got intrigued by the space battles, and mods OH GOD LOTS OF MODS and whenever I installed AI cores in my colony Luddic Church and Luddic Path:
Look on the save files to see if they are still there, put them some where else and then re-install the game, the problem may solve it self and and you could keep your saves. It could also be some thing against cracked copies (I play on the 0.9.a so don't know if it's that)

This release is incompatible with 32-bit (x86) toasters. A heads-up for any people who can't start the game but get the incomplete error window with java.exe, paths, jre, and all, but which is lacking the system incompatible addendum. For those on 64 and getting a similar message, run the bat file and you'll find the complete log that won't load completely into the error window and maybe an easy solution for your problems. This is the TL;DR for most problems:
wow what an insanely hard game! I died on the easy tutorial! I came across secuirty ships they told me my transponders were not on i got a warning then he said that was your last warning and they proceeded to destroy me and well they did! Terrible tutorial! I learned more from skipping the tutorial and i just started playing the game and figured out pretty quickly what to do.
Did you actually at any point look around your screen to see what was on there? Because by default activate transponder is the first icon on your taskbar. The game shouldn't have to tell you that; you should actually be looking at your screen the first time you play so you can see what you have to work with. -- EDIT - I just realized something. Your transponder STARTS activated. You actively turned it off.

Try this one, it 100% worked for a friend of mine with an installer downloaded before the SsethTzeentach video was released (should be the same installer you're getting from here). If it doesn't work for you, problem is on your end. Edit : Nevermind, you actually get the unpacked game from here. I'm not sure if the key works, but i'm guessing it should ?
Then post it again after 24 hours have passed. IGG doesn't see every request posted every day because hundreds of requests get posted. This is why you're supposed to keep posting your request once every 24 hours until it either gets fulfilled or someone tells you why it can't be fulfilled
is this file applicable to the latest versions (RC8)? what starfarer_obf .jar contains ? is it gameplay related or not ? i think u uploaded this file when game version was still RC6

Wait hold up i think i may have found a fix, try downloading an older version of the game like say from pirate bay, like 7.2a and install that and activate it with the key code it came with. now uninstall that and install this version. It just inexplicably works for me after i did that when i checked to see if it crashed for me on a older version. I'm thinking you had to have had the game on your computer beforehand for the cracked version here to work properly, but who knows, and if this worked for me somehow than it could work for someone who has fatal null crashes with this version.
I don't understand what you mean by the "install this version" part,the game here is precracked and does not have an installer to begin with. Do i just use the 0.8 launcher after uninstalling the old version?
This pre cracked version of the game seemingly lacked something or was poorly cracked, probably both and you had to install a version of the game that you had to manually activate it with a key it came with, doing that somehow got this version of it to work though i don't know quite how. That is essentially the gist of it, though this may not help everyone who got a fatal null crash.

I downloaded it from piratebay and i had to enter a key that came with the torrent to get it to work, that is the most likely suspect to getting it to work for me. If all else fails i suggest getting your crash log and post it on the starsector support forum for help.

can't disagree. I'm buying the game as soon as the new update is out. Besides, I should be able to buy some PC upgrades before the new update comes out.
It's very hard to be a pure trader in this game though. Pew pew is much easier. (Ofc you'll have to rebuild and such, mothball a ship for that) And 3 ships is already a bit too much though. 0.7 supply & 3.7 hyperspace fuel/day? Oh my. Some of the quest is so cool. 40k for delivering on time + 40k for delivering soon? 60/30 days? Great boost, you can afford a decent destroyer for 35-40k (add 10k for weapons). I'm not sure how those 1000-cargo quest can be done though. Not even 100 lolz. The market is cool and futuristic stuff, but really those supply and demand indicators are useless, 'cause no one would trade directly. Quests bring profits, not trading. And lastly, remember to save before leaving the sector. Some nasty pirates can eat you alive.
I'm staying around 1.2M credits for now with a combat-oriented fleet, and Atlas is like 120K each. The main problem is those >1000 stockpiles only can be found from big cities and running around with an Atlas slows everything. Btw how to protect an Atlas ship effectively? (edit: you don't)
