This game is essentially a Star Trek IP running on the "Stellaris Game Engine". I would say that if you just like the Star Trek Franchise and don't want to spend hours learning Stellaris and its many DLCs then this is the game for you. If you like 4x games then better to just get Stellaris and the Star Trek mod.
That's well said. Even though this is a Strategy game, I wish that there was ship level tactical gameplay involved during fleet battles, like in "Star Trek: Birth of The Federation" If that feature was present then IMHO, this game would be the true successor to that classic game. ππ
Hi, all! I've enjoyed playing "Star Trek: BOTF" (See here) long ago and though I've never played "Stellaris" (See here) before (I know this game is based on "Stellaris". It explicitly says so in this game's Steam page (See here)), everything like resource management, ship and station building, discovering new worlds and "First Contacting" their sentient inhabitants and/or alien animals/creatures, using diplomacy to try to "keep the peace" in order to avoid wars, establishing trade agreements & routes, forming alliances, espionage, initiating raids and invasions, facing seemingly overpowering enemies like the Borg, ... etc, all appear to be common elements to varying degrees, within all of these games.
I just wanted to give a "Heads up" to others like me who were also wondering whether this game (Or rather "Stellaris") allows a player, during fleet battles, to control individual ships in turn and direct/re-direct individual ship tactics in order to possibly determine the outcome of ship to ship battles and ultimately, victory or defeat within a battle of entire fleets, like in "Star Trek: BOTF" OR only allows a player to issue a single, strategy to one of his or her fleet of ships to be used against an enemy fleet and then just "Sit back and watch everything unfold"? The answer can be found in the following official Paradox Interactive video, already marked to start in position 4:12, here. This can be a good or bad thing depending upon what a player may be anticipating for and expecting of this game.
BTW - The Ferengi Alliance is missing! I guess that they couldn't buy their way into being included as one of the playable factions in this version of the game, unlike in "Star Trek: BOTF". Maybe Paradox Interactive will "make it so" in a future DLC. LOL! I hope that this helps you~!
How's this running for everyone else? I have a computer that can run Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra at 60fps, yet I've had to drop the settings in this game to low just to get 30fps.
Meh, Star Trek is before my time. My mom and her siblings used to watch it growing up. Stuff like Stellaris and Crusader Kings 3 are more my style. Might give this a try, but not right now tho.
Well it said for themselves from description above
Star Trek: Infinite is built upon the core systems of Stellaris, leveraging the deep and complex system and making them its own. Aspects of these systems have been streamlined and simplified to better resonate with the Star Trek franchise.
So its stellaris with Star trek skin or mod whatever you want.
