Car control for Slipstream (this game) is a disaster indeed, releasing the throttle isn't enough to pass some of those turns; you need to brake big time... while the AI doesn't seem giving a shit and just swing by. The race isn't hard, it's the mechanics that makes it look hard. So if anyone is looking for something like this, go search "HorizonChase Turbo" That game is much better in every way; Graphics, controls, immersions, everything an arcade racing game needs! What's more it doesn't need a good PC to run at sleek 60FPS.
Honestly the dev updates and changes important things in the game so much (changing AI behavior/bumping mechanics and so on), that would be useless to update right now. Better wait to a Final revision. The dev updated to 1.0.2, but it's not like vanilla 1.0.2 anymore. It's already two to three updates after the 1.0.2. Now that version is uber rare (crazy cars sliding to the sides making the game more challenging). Buch of cry babies ask to remove that. Sadly the development of the game is just like that, a huge mess. Such an awesome game though. Purchased the game AND refunded. Can't trust the dev will change the game again and again.

Go play any of these games to compare, and you'll understand.
Hey guys! this game look amazing... but i have a problem... i put the game in fullscreen, but is not "completely in fullscreen mode"... the game appear with that BIG black borders in fullscreen... any solution?
It pains me to say this, but Slipstream is not a good game. I took a look at it and immediately thought I would love it, but then I actually played it and... it's bad. It fails on several departments, and they all end up bringing the end product down. First off, the racing itself is not good at all. The cars feel incredibly floaty and weightless, the steering seems delayed in a bad way, and the drifting mechanic is garbage. To drift, you have to release the accelerator, tap the brake, then accelerate again. This is easily circumvented by just tapping both triggers quickly twice instead of having to do that absolutely backwards ass thing. Then you get to the drift itself, and how wrongly it behaves. It jumps you almost instantly into a full drift turn, and it ups the cars' floatiness by 200%. It's also got the problem with the delayed turning so it takes you a bit to get out of the drift, and this game loves throwing two consecutive, opposite turns at you. But here's the biggest problem about the drift: once you know how to do it, it's ridiculously easy to just consistently drift around every single corner almost without fail. The tracks are also very simplistic and there's no point where normal turning is a better option than drifting. It trivializes the game, in a way, because there's literally zero challenge in the driving. But the challenge comes from something else. Yes, more complaining incoming. The races against opponents are broken on several levels: you start off the race being stuck at minimum speed, while every single opponent, even the "easy" ones, start off at very high speeds. I'm confident this is to make up for the fact that the drivers are braindead, with the most basic AI pushing them along the way and pre-set settings that determine how well they perform. Still, once you pick up speed and learn the track, you're passing them with ease. Until you hit one of them. The collisions are broken. Every single hit sends YOU, exclusively YOU, flying in the most dramatic animation, and most importantly, severely reduces the speed you painfully built up. The other car is completely unaffected in any way, and continues perfectly drifting along that turn, or going in a straight line unmoved by you slamming into his back or side at 200+ kmph. Great. The collisions with scenery are also fucking stupid, but it's rather hard to collide with scenery at all once you learn how to drift and compensate for the abysmal controls. There's very little in the way of obstacles or choices in the tracks. All in all, the game is just bad. Bad physics, bad AI, bad races, completely forgettable circuits, music, even the aesthetic is weak. The other gamemodes are just fodder, considering how basic and bad the driving is, and the races are bad as well. If you want an arcade racing game, pick up the chinese made Initial D wannabee Fast Beat Loop Racer GT. It's a port of a run-of-the-mill arcade game, but in comparison with this trainwreck, that game is masterful. At least it's made me appreciate how right they got the arcadeish car controls and actually active AI when compared to this floaty shitfest. Even in the 90's, this game would've been considered very subpar.
