This is gonna be one of those games that is not gonna do well with the general population of gamers but will have some cult following. I didn't like both the combat and visual style at first, but they grew on me and now I'm having so much fun. More fun than Kingdom Come where archery is way overpowered and the melee combat is a worse version of For Honor.
I have been tuned to this game since like 2016, or even earlier, I am so sad, being unable to pay for it, but I will most definitely buy it when money comes around (and some patches, players seem not to be so happy)
I mean, from your point of view it will be, but I am a job-less student, that goes through his student grant in less than 2 weeks - I don't usually post on torrenting sites, and shit, I just felt like the dev really deserves the money, being that he's as indie as he gets - Only one person doing making such a unique, interesting game.
To see this is rough around the edges, would be a compliment. feels broken, hit detection is spotty, and for some ungodly reason , they make you pick up every single piece of loot with E, and some of it is so small, it blends in with dead bodies. they need some serious work on this for it to be considred worth it, even for pirating
unlike Borderlands, this game uses 2D sprites that always turn to face you. this includes items on the ground, and enemy bodies. Borderlands is actually in 3D. the looting isnt an issue when you can clearly see where an item is on the ground, not some rotating paper thin objectd'arte
GREAT AND TERRIBLE. LIKE IVAN. My little experience with it is that it's been great and terrible at the same time. Unless I'm missing something, this game is completely unplayable. GO TO THE SECOND FLOOR AT YOUR OWN RISK As soon as you reach the second floor (which is in fact floor 9 lol), the game becomes difficult it's unplayable. You enter rooms in which there are 5 or 6 enemies, 2 of them throwing arrows or spells and it'll take you so long to take care of the melee enemies that the ranged enemies will have all the time in the world to murder you. So, again, maybe I missed something (I'm far from being a great player), but I don't see how it's doable. Edit: I read more Steam reviews, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Apparently people are pulling their hair out while playing. lol So the game DOES need to be balanced after all, it's not just me. DAGGERFALL DID IT BETTER Besides that, I like everything else, which is why I'm so disappointed in this game. I love the atmosphere, and it reminds me of the first dungeon in Daggerfall. Unfortunately, I think that even Daggerfall wasn't as frustrating. Also, even if dungeons weren't randomly generated, they felt diverse and long enough to entertain you. I don't need to mention that of course, character customization is also infinitely deeper. But that would be an unfair comparison. Daggerfall + Unity engine => https://3dnews.ru/assets/external/illustrations/2017/10/19/960256/daggerfall%20unity%2004.jpg I like the game humor sometimes, like the sexy goblins posters.🤣 Graphics are great although a bit creepy to me. (just look at the monsters' faces! lol) It really feels like you're in a comic book sometimes. It also reminds me a bit of Borderlands, in a way. I still dream of a game with very detailed drawings like the ones from the old Ian Livingstone gamebooks of the 80s. => https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LnV39Wn0GSQ/Tzj7JiD445I/AAAAAAAAAp0/rIw-Q1SNPrQ/s1600/russn.jpg UI is simple and efficient, you don't exactly need a manual to understand everything in a few minutes. There's no music, and sound effects are simple, but you don't care too much about it. Also, I regret I couldn't reconfigure the keys. So I had to set my keyboard to US so that I could play with ZQSD keys. One of the things that do need to be improved, in my opinion, is how you often feel "stuck" in barrels, walls, etc. Many many times, I got hit because I just couldn't even walk over a tiny 10cm high step. lol Sometimes it's worse, you're stuck to an enemy... Or maybe it was sexual assault or something... Dunno... lol https://i.warosu.org/data/ck/img/0060/54/1418436371085.jpg SAVING OR NOT SAVING? Finally, I don't know if it was a bug or not, but even if I saved my game many times (game supposedly saves automatically when you go to another floor, or when you find a save "station" lol), and with "permadeath" disabled, my stats didn't save when I die. I had to redo everything every time I died. So I didn't see the point in saving. I see some comments on Steam saying that they could save their stats when they died... That would COMPLETELY change my review, and it would make more sense, like the permanent upgrades in Rogue Legacy. But it didn't work for me... Grrrr... You're NOT supposed to beat this game in just one run, I bet. Edit: I think it's possible I couldn't save cos I use a cracked version of the game. This problem often occurs in cracked games. Does it work for you guys? DYING BECAUSE OF BAD OPTIMIZATION FEELS GREAT............NOT. Oh, and one final word about optimization. Well, there's NO optimization. lol One time, I died certainly the most annoying death you could imagine. There was just me and one of these ranged enemies in a room. I actually used an invincibility potion, but the game froze at that time. When it "unfroze", I was already dead. I guess the enemy killed me while it was frozen... I don't want to imagine what else he did to me, but whatever.😘🌭 So it means it froze so long that even my invincibility effect wore off... This is ridiculous. So yeah... You can play the game if you want, but you've been warned.😜 AS USUAL, WAIT AND SEE Anyway, I REALLY hope that it's only a VERY early release and that the developer intends to balance the gameplay and seriously optimize the game, cos it sure has a great potential. If it was better balanced, I could even enjoy it better than Delver, which seems often too simple.(still one of the best though) http://igg-games.com/delver-pc-free-download.html There's also Barony, which is a strong contender, much more complex, but with subpar graphics => http://igg-games.com/barony-v1-04-free-download.html
Your stats not saving must be a bug, but everytime you die you lose one level and you lose the four stats you spent. The stats save for me even on this cracked version. You can cheese it too, when you die close the game executable via the process manager, and you can start a level over, or start from your save point. Level two is doable, but level 3 is kind of fucked, 1 guy can wreck you.
Hmmm it seems the game has just been updated, so maybe I should try this latest version and see if it saves now. But yeah, like you say, the game still needs some balancing, I think.
