@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error). By doing one of the following:
Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:
Method 2: or after installing the game, open the iso file, copy everything in the "RUNE" folder, then paste them to where you installed the game, enjoy ;) (see tutorial image here if you still dont know: https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html)
play this game with dx11, it will boost the framerate significantly. create shortcut from the silenthill2remake.exe, then click properties on that shortcut and then add -dx11 in targets like below
i just hate that the first silent hill seems to have been forgotten - in my view its every bit as good as the sequel and has even more atmospheric dread.
i have a lot of memories of getting home from school as fast as possible just to try to finish silent hill 1 but always dreading it too because of the suffocating grimness of it - i made it worse because i always had my room in total darkness. i do love the sequel but for some reason the first one has always stayed with me more.
anybody knows why it doesnt work to save game progress everytime i get to the red envelope and save i get a popup down in right corner and it says "game has been saved" but nothing actually save
So, the biggest complaint I've seen on steam so far is performance issues like low FPS, crashes and freezes. Thus far I've experienced none of them but I haven't played very much YET. From what I have played however, the atmosphere and tension is all still there, Bloober Team nailed in in that aspect. It also seems they added two new endings on top of the 6 original ones so now we have 8 endings to get, that is A LOT of endings
I have a GTX 1650 which is above the minimum recommended. However I only have 8GB ram which is bellow even them minimum recommended and it's been running just fine for me.
I'm excited for those experiencing Silent Hill 2's story for the first time through this version.
I remember playing the original on my PS2 as a young lad. It was the first game that genuinely surprised me with how dark its overall narrative was. Without spoiling anything, it doesn't shy away from showing the real consequences of people's actions no matter how depressing they are.
i did see that and that made me very happy and excited since i was downloading it at the time and so far it seems great aside from the performance being abit spotty but ill be optimizing it soon anyways ,but yeah im satisfied atm
I'm on a mid range computer, I even have less than minimum recommended ram and it's been running fine for me on high settings. No lag, no crashes, no freezes thus far
just to finish this nonsense of the "hUrR DuRr GaMe nOt oPtImIZeD hUrR dUrR"
already finished the game with a 1080ti, i7 6th gen, 16 gb ram using default settings
i never in the whole time got any sluttering, performance problems or crashes.
If you people have problems check your shit very deeply, me and bowie are living proofs that this game doesnt have issues using mid end PCs, its your machines the issue clean your fucking crap, registry, defrag, delete your shitty porn files etc..
as for the raytraccing and other "OPTIONAL" features that aint no excuse to say bullshit that its not optimized just god damn enjoy the game with the default settings
anyway game its good, not a goty but its a competent remake from the original
Game has big performance problems. Good that it worked out for you, but plenty of people with far better specs than a 1080ti and i7 6th gen are dealing with stutters, crashes, and performance issues. If it was just a 'PC cleanup' issue, we wouldn’t see so many reports from high-end users facing the same problems. Proper optimization means the game should run well across a range of hardware, especially on systems that exceed the recommended requirements. Writing off these issues doesn’t make them disappear; it just ignores real flaws in the game's performance.
I just wanted to add to the weirdness, running a 3080: ray tracing seems to have negligible impact for me, and the settings that have the MOST impact are going fullscreen and turning shaders to medium. Medium shaders give you a HUGE return on FPS, as well as regular fullscreen-borderless causes the game to tank too.
a new live action movie " Return To Silent Hill " based on the story from the silent hill 2 game is coming out soon ( i really enjoyed the first film - but didn't watch the sequel because of dreadful reviews)
they are definitely brave since the 2nd game is considered one of the greatest ever made. its from the same guy who directed the first one and while that one wasn't perfect it had more good then bad and the visuals were great.
many (including myself) were expecting this game to be rubbish but this is supposed to be really good and it should be seen as a companion piece to the original. i hope they consider doing the first and the third one too.
"Coming < Specified Date >" (Not to be confused with "Coming soon") means that this game is in or near the Final stage and not in the "Early Access"/mostly playable Beta stage! Those downloading it should consider it as a Final or near Final "Release Candidate" of a game that may be worth looking into! For more information, see here. The best news is that it's already here on IGG-Games.com! There is full English support via the English interface, English audio and English subtitles!
My game was hanging at the opening screen. The furthest it would get was the Konami logo, and then it would freeze and would say not responding in the task manager. Spent time updating stuff, trying different solutions. Turned out all I had to do was be patient. I tried starting the game and just waiting a while, and after about 5 minutes it started working fine! Just let it cook!
find your save that would be in another location. should be in the RUNE folder in documents. (steam id would be its save data info). a bit of googling should tell you where to look in piracy subreddits.) what i found was C:\Users\”your username”\AppData\Local\SilentHill2\Saved\SaveGames so there may be two files in this location now. im not sure if this is a "RUNE" release or not so its hard for me to guess. but, just check the most recent. (make a new save) and that should be where the older files get copied too.
did you extract successfully? There may be 2 reasons:
You have downloaded unsuccessfully => some files are corrupted. To be sure, extract again, and see if it gives an error during the extraction process.
If the extraction is successful, but you cannot mount => maybe your AV has blocked the iso file. The method used to crack games is similar to the method used to code m-a-l-w-a-r-e! Anti-virus programs will detect the crack as a virus and delete/block it, even though it isn’t! :)
thanks! I get no error message while extracting. I have interchanged some links while downloading the different files (not sure if I have to download all parts from the same link?)
I do not recommend playing this game in its current state. It is poorly optimized, and with high settings (rtx 4080super, ryzen 9 5900x and 32gb of ram) , I only get 50-60-70 FPS, with constant stuttering, btw Dlss change absolutely Nothing. It’s horrible to play and makes me motion sick after just a few minutes. Other than that, the game is good, but it's better to wait until it's in a more playable condition.
Sounds like a you problem because I have way lower specs than you, get a constant 60 FPS on high settings with no stuttering whatsoever. The game's optimization is fine. Not perfect, but fine as is
bowie is a normal user like you an i... so i am not sure what the site and "lie" have in common... lol
its a mixed bag on this game tho, seeing plenty of 1660/lower tier cards with decent cpus running this at 1080p med/low settings no stutters. i believe thats due to 60/70 fps instead of the UE5 issue (thats present in most titles using this engine currently) which is an unlocked or uncapped framerate that goes above 100fps that is usually where the stutters happen...
i on the other hand have a (low) higher end pc. 4070ti 5800x, so i assume if i were to fire this up, id see the frame time issues that i see on most UE5 games currently. (which is why i run vsync on a 60hz 4k 50in tv). to limit this stutter b.s. if you look at alot of similar titles using this engine tho, jedi survivor that you can get a high frame rate on. youll notice this same stutter most the time. engine needs some CPU optimizing for sure.
Then explain how me, Ozzito and plenty of other people with low to mid specs can play the game on the highest setting with no stuttering or lag whatsoever, keeping in mind of course that people with low to mid specs like me can't turn raytracing on and raytracing is the framhog and most likely the cause of the stuttering
So if you look at the video where @8:50 in the timestamp where the game is hitching due to what looks like not to be shader compilation but more so due to assets loading/de-loading.
Now you may not be as effected with the stuttering as others or maybe due to your GPU don't notice them as often. They showed the game running on a mid tier PC and high end as well as PS5 showing the major issue with stuttering.
Raytracing when not turned on uses software based raytracing via Lumen.
that's wierd... I'm worried now, ok then, I will try to figure it out, ps : are you playing it with rtx tho ? because I'm playing with rtx, I think that's the problem, without rtx I go between 60 - 90 with variation
The ray tracing enabled really lowers your fps in this game. Once, I disabled it my fps went way back up again lol. I don't even have the best PC rig. I have an RTX 2070 GPU and i7-8700k CPU, but most games that I'm playing I get over 100 fps. Like a 110 - 112 fps seems to be my average in most games that I'm playing. 85-95 in the newer modern games.
Oh God, turning on ray tracing DESTROYS my frame rate 😂😂😂
Actually, being only able to play this at lowest quality settings on a RTX 3060 is ridiculous. I can even run Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing set to high and still maintain stable 30 but this? I can't even get past 15. MADNESS.
They need to optimize it a lot more before making it even a half-decent game, hot damn is it a literal nightmare to be not able to play this game at high graphics.
optimize your ass, this fellas did good with the remake just because you cant play with ray tracing doesnt mean it sucks which its disabled by default such a toxic drama queen you are
update: pff what a pussy prick, blocking, deleting or hiding the account after posting his drama about the ray tracing
Huhu I literally got excited for nothing, I downloaded it and installed but my laptop performance is not enough, so laggy and so uncomfortable.. I played Resident evil 6,7 and it's performance is good but why this game not enough?
Just a little frustrated, I've been waiting for this game to release and I thought my spec can run this game since my laptop can run Resident evil 6,7,8 but who would have thought that this remake had excellent grahics that even for my laptop don't run so well..but anyway I planned to upgrade my laptop just for this game.lol
hey, I have a problem with the iso file, each time I try to lunch it, it tells me that the disk is damaged, I downloaded 2 times the seven files and its not my first time cracking a game, but the first time I have this kind of error
i second using winrar not 7zip. as winrar will tell you what part is bad i.e. if part 3 is damaged, itll tell you "silent hill part 3 rar corrupt" something along those lines.
its not about compression ratio. its about knowing what part/s are bad.
7zip only states "a part" is bad. while winrar tells which part exactly.
eidt-although, i do have 7zip and winrar both on my PC i use 7zip sometimes for compressing stuff to send. i only use winrar for direct downloads etc. just incase i have some issue with a part that somehow got corrupted during download.

Partially from what the comments are saying. It can be ignored for the most part. Personally I think it's a plus. It's about time JonTron got into the gaming scene. Didn't think he'd play as Angela, but you got to start somewhere.
Not too keen on them using already established IPs to peddle their ideology, but I'm all for seeing them crash and burn in real time. Free entertainment.
I recommend that you just ignore the game because apathy would do more damage to these kinds of games that need all the attention to get people to buy into it and justify their costs.
A few things were changed. Angela and Maria's designs were changed to be closer to the original concept art Masahiro Ito made but ended up not using because apparently a konami exec at the time was a Christina Aguilera simp and demanded that Maria be dressed like her. There were also a few scenes of Maria trying to touch James that got cut and she's overall less flirty. Beyond that the only changes made were good changes like the combat is less awkward and stiff for example, it's a lot more fluid
The tone of their language suggest that they might have a bias against this game so its best to not engage with it and let time judge this game if its really good or not.
Or, again, they can judge for themselves by playing it. Because a lot of the people accusing this game of being for the "modern audience" are just plain false
I see alot of flack about the whole character change that was made, especially for Angela and I for one say that it was planned. That Angela thing is kind of a red herring to take away from the real concerns when it comes with Maria and what she means for the protag of the game in my eyes. Like, in some angles Angela is packing on a few pounds even though one could argue (and they have) that this is what could happen to someone with trauma. Pressing X to Doubt, but most of those who defend has used that statement before. But in the end, idk. I always found her tragically annoying anyway. Yes, I know I'm a bad person. I'm ready to be cancelled, lol.
My problem is with Maria. IYKYK about her origin story, the idea of her attire being dressed down would make no damn sense. Like.... seriously! I'm trying to be cool and not spoil anything. I feel like I'm in a Mandela Effect here. How is that okay unless Mr. Sutherland has been making trips to Simpland, USA between the years of progress and came out the other end thirsty than a mosquito in Transylvania. I know, that's me being a puritan of the old school.
It's whatever. I can always make an old-gen HD mod or wait for one to be made and head onto NexusMods, where it'll be there with no one making a big deal about making such alterations whatsoever...........
Considering what they did to a certain Coffin Of Andy And LeyLey mod, yours wouldn't last a day on the Nexus. Also the situation with Maria is the same as with Angela, her redesign is based on the original concept art which ended up not being used in the original game. But for this remake they wanted to stick as close to Masahiro Ito's original vision for the characters as they possibly could. What they shouldn't have changed about Maria though his how flirty she is, they toned that down WAY too much in the remake. Oh also, and keep in mind I have no confirmation of this as of yet, but I keep hearing that the reason why Maria had that outfit in the original game was because one of Konami's execs was a huge fan of Christina Aguilera and kind of demanded that Maria be dressed like her
The whole existence of Maria is to be the eye catcher and stuff-I-really-shouldn't-mention is important to the head scratching philosophical moments that are riddled in this game pertaining to the protagonist. She shouldn't be touched, but it seems like she's been touched... like a lot... which is funny if you think about it.
It's whatever tho. Not like I was gonna throw cash at a company that gave the finger to videogames, the talented staff they had, and the good will of a fandom for some panchinko revenue....and the NFTs. I remember. Pepperidge Farms remember.
And I'm aware about what's going on over at Nexus Mods. What I don't know is about the Andy & LeyLey thing. What's that all about?
Basically it was a mod that replaced LeyLey with their mother. You can imagine the implications of such a replacement, especially given the incest content of the game. As for Maria, I'm only bothered that they made her less flirty and even outright removed some scenes like the ones where she tried to touch James. Her outfit change doesn't bother me too much considering it was Ito's original vision
surprises me that they didnt use denuvo and seems to be well done, i was also thinking this game would be bad knowing konami have been sucking balls lately
Konami isn't exactly rich after they dumped Kojima. People still hate them for that and their games aren't doing very well in the recent years, either.
I mean... just look at how hard MGS3(?)'s Steam "Reupload" flops, lmao people can emulate the game better than Konami themselves, that shit is a joke of its own.
I didn't think it would be done on a modern AAA game. And apparently it's actually good despite the immense pressure on Bloober Team to live up to the original? Wild.
I've been avoiding reviews and previews of this game specifically so I can formulate my own opinion and be surprised by how it looks. All the criticism I've heard was all over pointless things such as "Angela doesn't look hot anymore"
No, they really don't. First of all Angela was never "gorgeous" to begin with. Second of all this interpretation of her is way closer to her original concept art than the original model. Third of all she is not supposed to look pretty or beautiful or gorgeous, she's supposed to look plain and unassuming because that's what her whole story is about
Relax. It's not a charity, they are selling these games not giving them away. Yes, I realize the irony of posting that here.
Fans can complain if they feel a product is missing the mark on something just as you can if you feel if it is being overblown.
Making women seem less beautiful on purpose when the opposite is mostly not done to men in video games is not uncommon. That's why people are upset. Yes, I know this case can be debated.
Btw, I don't really care either way too much here, but her concept art is still much better than what was put in the game in my opinion.
but that's the thing, she's not less beautiful, she's just different. The people who complain that they made her ugly think that originally she was some super model gorgeous woman or something when she really wasn't. It's the same people who complain that "modern gaming is making every woman less attractive". If the woman in question isn't like the Stellar Blade protag, they'l complain about it. It's that simple.
You're oversimplifying things by saying if it isn't the like the SB girl, they'll complain. There are areas of gray.
Again, this case is different as she never was supposed to be ugly nor a super-model. She was supposed to be like a housewife type.
I feel the valid complaints are that she isn't even like her concept art which you call yourself plain. If she was modeled after that, I feel fans of the series would be less inclined to complain. She does kind of seem off compared to it.
Except those are not grey areas at all, it's what I've seen. One of the biggest complaints I've heard about "modern gaming" is that "women aren't pretty". The only times I don't hear that complaint is on games like SB where the female protag looks the way she looks. Anything bellow that fails to meet the complainers standards. Hence why those kinds of complaints are ridiculous. And no, even if she was 100% modeled after the original concept art people would still say she's ugly or that she looks like a man. Keep in mind, the people making these complaints are the same people that call everything "woke"
You're not looking at the right discussions if you don't think those aren't gray areas. The statement being "Women aren't pretty" is very subjective itself. Just as you think everything is not-woke, they think the opposite when you're both wrong.
And again, you don't know what they would say, only what you think those you have not reflected on would.
What they are sick of are consultant firms (Hit Detection was hired for this game and have a track record of censoring or adding their own messages) being hired to lessen things that might be offensive. Often that adds unwanted political messages that ironically divide people more than sex, violence, etc. ever would.
Okay, I was just trying to tell you they were misguided from those in the true fight against political correctness (we agree there I suppose) and don't to be too upset at the minority. I didn't mean to upset you either. Cheers.
I am more than aware of what those companies do, that's not the issue. The issue is these people using woke as code for "something I don't personally like" and that's exactly what they are doing with this. Heck they're already doing it to Ghost Of Yotei(The Ghost Of Tsushima sequel that was announced during the recent state of play) because the lead is a woman and the lead's VA fights for trans rights. These people have lost sight of what woke is and use it willy nilly against everything they don't personally like. Yes I know what they would say because they always say the same thing. They are so predictable in their arguments that it makes people who are paying attention seem prescient. They don't change. They think everything is woke unless the it has super model drop dead gorgeous women in it and they have a boner at all times. These people just want porn in their games, it's that simple. I've spent way too long among these people and I know exactly how they think. I got away from them when their arguments stopped being about fighting woke and started being about "not enough porn in my game". And I, for one, don't want to back to discussing that sort of thing, it's ridiculous and only serves to lessen the fight against what is actually woke. This is my final word on the subject, it was an idiotic comparison that only serves to spark idiotic discussions that wastes everyone's time. Good day/night
As a Poor I have to judge on reviews and previews if there's no demo, unfortunately. So a Denuvo-less AAA game is a godsend and a rarity for me to enjoy. I want to give them money already partly due to that.
Do i have to install Opera or another things that I don't know? I mean, give the torrent file in drive or mega and done. It's is necessary the pop ups?
How were they actually able to crack this game so quickly, but games like Assassin's Creed Mirage still has not been cracked yet and it's been out for a year now ?
Because Ac Mirage and some other games (Like Dead Space remake) has a DRM called Denuvo, which is extremely hard to crack. Not the same case with this game.
create shortcut from the silenthill2remake.exe, then click properties on that shortcut and then add -dx11 in targets like below
it on DX12 and just turn off raytracing?
performance would be the same,
and it would look slightly sharper.
i am using 1080ti and its running smooth no issues so far
1080ti here who is even much older thant 1650 and runs fine
I remember playing the original on my PS2 as a young lad. It was the first game that genuinely surprised me with how dark its overall narrative was.

Making women seem less beautiful on purpose when the opposite is mostly not done to men in video games is not uncommon. That's why people are upset. Yes, I know this case can be debated.
Btw, I don't really care either way too much here, but her concept art is still much better than what was put in the game in my opinion.

And again, you don't know what they would say, only what you think those you have not reflected on would.
What they are sick of are consultant firms (Hit Detection was hired for this game and have a track record of censoring or adding their own messages) being hired to lessen things that might be offensive. Often that adds unwanted political messages that ironically divide people more than sex, violence, etc. ever would.
I mean, give the torrent file in drive or mega and done.
It's is necessary the pop ups?
Capcom games do, EA games do, Ubisoft games do.
