Sadly this remaster is very broken in many places. Decorative AI like birds or mice are often stuck in place and vibrating very quickly, the restored content is a hotch-botch at best especially if you play at other languages than english because theres a language mismatch as the missing content seemed to be only available in english, some textures are missing or horribly stretched in some places and some visual effects are just broken. Sound also sometimes changes volume erratically and does not work right on 5.1 or higher. AI seems to be broken as well, the undead zombie thingys just phase through their cages and other enemys seem to often forget that they should hurt shadow man and just give up pursuit. Controls are broken to an extent as the analog sticks don't recognize diagonals at full speed and the new auto aiming system is way worse than the classic lock-on of the old versions as there is no visual indication when and which enemy you are targeting. The shotgun also never spawned for me. Camera-Movement in some cutscenes seems to broken as well if you're playing higher than 60fps. So all in all it's just a hd texture pack with new mostly barely noticeable lighting effects in some areas and some really really unpolished, non optional added content, the only new stuff that can be turned of are the enhanced graphics so if you want to experience the game at its best and can't run the original pc version on current windows, try emulating the dreamcast or n64 version, this game is really not up to the standards of other night dive releases and seems incredibly rushed especially for a remaster.
IIRC(played the original ages ago and loved it) you play as shadowman(/jack the ripper or something) and travel between the real world and some fucked up dark world, it could maybe be described as a 3D metroidvania.
Michael LeRoi is the Shadow Man, a person able to walk between the worlds of the living and dead. Some asshole rounds up killers from history and you have to deal with them. During the day, you're just Michael, and have no powers. But at night, and in the dead world, you're Shadow Man. Jack the Ripper is one of the guys recruited by the villain.
That is what a remaster is. It's taken directly from the audio production term of mastering, It's refining what is already there using small tweaks and techniques, like HD upscaling and retexturing, rather than remaking it entirely from scratch (which often leaves out or changes a lot of the details that made the original great in the first place, too).
It's time to admit that Valiant comics is dead, it changed ownership, editors and of course they move to a "woke" culture. And the last shadowman was 5 years ago.
…You do know they aren't made by the same people, right? Acclaim made Shadow Man, Capcom made Dino Crisis. That would be like getting upset that Nintendo released a remaster of Metroid 2 instead of Silent Hill.
I never played this game but to have the Dino Crisis Trilogy remastered would be bad fucking ass. I also hope that the rumors about Silent Hill being remastered or continued are true too.

this game aged well for this years :/

20minutes of gameplay --> https://youtu.be/pAAqgVOhzGo
It looks a really lazy job, it changed the textures and some lights and nothing else much.

Funny anyways.
