Current version doesn't seem to be working properly so I've posted an update request. Would love to give this game a shot, been on my list for a while now but I've never felt convinced enough to buy it.
is it only 64bit? because the nw.exe file opens but the screeps_server.exe file doesn't and sais that it's only for 64bit... and when i open the game when i press connect it sais "your client version is incompatible. Please update your game client and try again."
Also for som reason, my scripts won't save if I try modifying them using the in-game editor: the changes won't apply to the local folder, and the changes won't ever be aknowledged.
Doesn't this require a 64bit windows? When I try to start the server's executable, windows itself says it can't run it. Would there be a 32bit version ? (Note: It does work fine on my bigger computer, but the point is I'd like to play on my portable one.)
I'm doing the tutorial, yes. I can do it work editing the local file with notepad instead of using the game. Oh well. And yes, the badages are all blank.
You could use this as a practice run. Then if you are now confident, purchase the steam version or pay for the game subscription where the real fun of the game is.
I have tested this for a bit. The game itself seems to be real fun, but this version does only allow you to connect to servers in your LAN. It might be possible to play with tools like Hamachi or Tunngle, but the official server or any private servers do not work - And that is where this game should be played. You can fool around a bit and play against some AI bots, but that wont be fun for long.
Yes, you can. Open the server, go to the game and put localhost in IP and 21025 in port and you re in. If that don't work, check the port in backend, in the line that says Game Server Listening.
Even if you start a local server and try to connect, it still says:
An error occured while logging into your Steam account. Please restart Steam and try again.
An error occurred while connecting to the server. Please try again later.
i need help.
up: its not!! :((
Does not seem that anything happened :D

I'm have some problem. I put code in main and nothing happens. The spawn create the creeps, but the creeps don't move
Did you try the tutorial? https://screeps.com/a/#!/sim/tutorial
Also, can you choose your own Badge, or are they all blank?
