Strategy, RTS game, almost like age of empires modified. Game works fine. Nice cinematics. Lots of in game commands, formations, etc. Not so easy to win battles. Less of construction, more of strategic fighting. Except this one is non HD.

I can't play, the game freezes all the time...

Don't bother with this game.
It will not run no matter what compatibility setting you set it to.
I've tried all the given past windows and none of them worked.
I've even read that even the steam version is having issues with players unable to launch the game.

do this, if you get a DirectX error:

• press windows key + X.
• choose "Windows Settings".
• open "Apps".
• open "programs and features".
• click on "Turn Windows features on or off”.
• expand "Legacy Components".
• check the box next to "DirectPlay".
• click on "OK" and play the game.
  if the game still doesn't work, try this:
• right-click on the "Praetorians" shortcut.
• choose "Properties".
• select the "Compatibility" tab.
• check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
• select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" in the dropdown box.
• Click on "OK" and run the game.

i downloaded it perfectly the game works until you start building that thing for your village with your workers. At this moment the game freezes and completely stops
