It's the remake of the popular flash game "Phoenotopia". I bought this game on the Switch and it's one of my 2020 hidden gem. Don't miss it, it's really good. My play time 42 hours and I didn't find all the hidden content. Also the soundtrack is top notch. ;)
Idk how the art style and colour pallete suddenly make a game sjw kusoge. Personally this looks even better than terraria that everyone loves, which i dont. But to each their own i guess.
damn metroidvanias are quite hot this day ender lilies, lamp chronicle, skul and this but ooooooooooooooh the first 2 are fucking early access game, makes me grind my teeths
Arguably, Zelda 2 was a precursor to the Metroidvania genre, much like how Wolfenstein was a precursor to Doom and the Doom-like/Doom Clone genre that eventually morphed into the FPS genre.
I don't think the Metroidvania Genre took much from zelda 2 specifically mechanically that wasn't present in other 2d action games, especially since Metroid predates Zelda2. It's more like Metriodvania's and Zelda2 were precursors to this game specifically
While Metroid was released a little before Zelda II was officially released (August 6th 1986 vs January 14th 1987), Zelda II was already in development when Metroid was begun, though it had none of the elements of being a Zelda game; in fact, the Zelda-specific elements actually only came into existance at the last phase of development, when they were they were trying to craft a story and bring it all together (which is why it's such a radical departure from the first game in so many ways, though it introduced many elements to the series that have remained consistant throughout the series since; most notably, the Triforce of Courage being in Link's possession). Furthermore, the entire concept of adding RPG mechanics to a sidescroller of any sort actually originated with Zelda II; there were no others before it that did so, though there were plenty in the shmup genre especially that did have powerups of one sort or another, such as Gradius or Knightmare; other precursors of later genres, like Thexder (which would later inspire such classics as Contra and Metal Slug) didn't even have those, though those inspired by it usually had upgrades of one sort or another.
Remake or more to remaster, the original is called phoetopia this remaster just add awakening. They did said theyll make a sequel phoetopia 2 at some point. Im actually planning to buy this but idk if i wont just stop after a few hours and regret ir. Cause the demo personally is too short for me. Reason i request this on the request page and igg delivers as usual. Another im waiting from igg is oceans heart. Plan to buy that too but need to be sure.
