If you might encounter a fatal error message in the loading sequence, it is because you overwrite the new data with the old one. Just delete the entire folder, download and unzip the new one to play
Found a fix for the "verify user" pop up, all you need to do is clear your saved data in user\AppData\Local\PhantomAbyss\Saved, and by clear I mean delete that 'Saved' folder. Reload the game and u should be good to go.
At this point I doubt a simple version update would solve much. Given that the game is a 'popular' game in Early Access it's gonna get constantly updated every couple of days and this whole thing will repeat (at best). Unless the new crack somehow blocks the online access it will only be playable for a day or so.
I'm pondering whether or not to buy it, it's fairly expensive for me, so trying it again would help me decide whether I buy it or not. Hopefully they will update it tomorrow because there are a lot of requests for it and one of my friends has also donated the files with the newest update.
i would love to just buy the game ive been waiting for about 6 days now for them to even update it once and it hasnt happened but currently i dont have any money to do so. so im just suffering until i either get the money or they finally update the game

I watched a bunch of sponsored streams over a month ago that featured how fun this game can be. It's a first-person tomb-raiding and trap-evading game with an Indiana Jones whip as your main tool. Unfortunately for us though, the "phantom" part in the title directly refers to the multiplayer aspect of the game where you can see the ghost of previously failed players run through a dungeon that is not yet fully conquered. In short, it is a very fun game but half the fun is embedded within the multiplayer aspects of it. It can still be fun playing it solo though, running through each unique dungeon having a single shot at getting its relic.
Long post, but what's your point? I played 2 days ago before the "Update Required" thing and it had tons of ghosts. It worked just as intended, multiplayer and all. Even sent my temple code to a friend to get my treasure back after I died. Just need to figure out how to change the username because I show up as a random string of characters
I'm sure updated versions will come in a day or two. The multiplayer aspect should stay the same considering it's extra steps for them to rework the whole server authentification shabang. I dunno, It's a really fun game anyway, might buy it if there's no other way lol
Oh, it's one of the best games in its genre that I've ever seen. And the fact that it's this fun in alpha stage means it will only get better in time. It's definitely worth the purchase if it's your thing. Thing is, "online features" being active in cracked versions is definitely not the norm and it certainly isn't intended by the devs. Although it could be intended as in 'they intentionally let pirated versions participate to inflate the number of phantoms for the alpha launch' but for them to stop that is just as easy as pressing a button. They simply need to enable code authentication before you connect to the server which most certainly already exists. Still, we'll have to wait and see :)
(3:54) I do wonder how the player character could make that fall but not the drops into the dark abysses. The fall distances don't seem that different between the two.
Yeah it does look (and feel , from the stream) fun, but it's a game really multiplayer oriented You can try, maybe it's fun also in solo. But as all those "multiplayer experience" game, it's often a step back when we pirate them :/
Others man :)) obviously, since you can only attempt a temple once, you can't see your own ghost. There were definitely people with funny believeable names
