Upon starting I get a "Failed to initialize player" error.
"Details: Failed to load PlayerSettings (internal index #0). Most likely data file is corrupted, or built with mismatching editor and platform support versions."
at which folder do you save a game ? and which folder you have instaled a game ? did it throwed any error ? any modifing of savegame ? was loading of different save ok ? for me, game loading is without any probelm.
I would not call it a horrible game. The AI is just terrible however which makes it difficult to enjoy. I did however enjoy a lot of the other elements of the game. As far as districts goes, my major complaint is that you could not destroy and rebuild them elsewhere.
Civ6 is a good game. It offered several good things, like moving districts to the map. But it failed with many other things like map movement, era progression, and especially it stripped the player from strategic control of the game. We were deprived of "number crunching" in order to make it more popular among "console players". It's still a good game, even thought it feels more like checkers than chess.
It's funny that people are so divided about this game. I like it but I find it very simple. I don't struggle at all, compared to Civ IV. (I skipped V) Is it because of the A.I. that you're frustrated by Civ VI?
They simplified everything on civ 6 and they removed army stacking so it kinda bummed me. no more eternal war for me but I do kinda like the religious rap battles they included, wish they brought back companies though
Hmmmm I don't know... On one hand, I'm pretty sure that this is really good. On the other hand, the in-depth videos I checked on Youtube didn't show that many differences with any Civilization game. Basically, this one has more elements coming from something like Crusader Kings. 🤔 (Which I gave up on because it was way too complex for me. On the other hand, this one is much easier to play, which is a very good point.) It's the kind of game you have to try to know if it's for you. Me, I think it's possible I'll just stick to Civ VI, though. Edit : changed my mind... Definitely give it a chance, and let's see how they improve it.
I would suggest giving Crusader Kings 2 another try. I know it can be tough getting into, but that game is pure gold. Its probably my all time favorite...just an incredibly fun game.
CK2 is a game where you have done everything there is to do after like 2-3 hours. You can then move to india and do the same with a little different portraits, and new content is gone after 1h. It's just yet another "blobbing simulator" from PI that has no challenge left in it after you conquer 2-3 provinces. It's just grind, especially when you pick a leader that needs to raid. People like this game because it's simple and repetitive, like Clash of Clans or similar browser games. Wait a little, do the thing, wait some more, do the thing again and so on ad nauseam. This, however, looks very promising. There are very good chances I'll be buying it after playing for an hour of two on this "demo version".
Oh I know, it's great, but I'm afraid it'll take me a lifetime to learn how to play properly, like Europa Universalis IV. 😂 The nice thing about Old World is that it seems simplified and might offer the best of both worlds between Civilization and CK for more casual gamers like me.
You should try Victoria 2 then. I play all the paradox games and that one was much tougher for me to understand than all the others. I eventually did get it because I living in Texas I thought it would be incredibly cool to make Texas a world power.
I will try Full Version (for sure) Lily. I know that some Strategy games can "overwhelm" you. Same thing here, with some Complex RPG, sometimes too much for me to have fun with. And if there are some dragons, elfs ... etc ... Nah
For this kind of game. Alpha means Alpha. Beta means Alpha. Early release means Alpha. Final means Beta. First patch means Beta. Second patch means Beta. (2 years later) means Final
Weird. I got it to work on my windows 10 laptop, but not my gaming pc's win7. I thought that was the problem, but... i guess im missing drivers or something ?? It seems others have had problems with getting it to run too :/
they are the ones who developed Offworld Trading Company and also former Civ devs. Yea its early access and epic ex but i will give em a chance because i'm sick of Civ AI.
Same for me. It happens every time I tried to start a new game. There's also a weird file 'EmailServer.bat", which seems to call the game without graphis and with an "emailserver" parameter.

I almost never get any kind of issues too
I see new versions at least weekly.
You can expect LOTS of updates and more content in the future.
'cause it simply wont work for me
for me, game loading is without any probelm.

U should try that, its a lot of fun.
That game is in EA.

That's why I'm not buying it outright, even though it's cheap. Hope it's playable.
it's making me very dizzy
