It's a pretty bad game. It's similar to Dome Keeper or Wall World, but way worse. So far, among identical game mechanisms but with the most unique gameplay is Drill Core.
The reason you see positive reviews on Steam is that this game may not be considered bad enough to leave a negative review for some people, but for me, this is a no-go because there are many better games with identical mechanisms.
What killed it for me was awful story progression. In my third run I already was immortal. Everything maxxed out and way above wave 50. I wondered: How can I unlock buying the remaining upgrades? I had to find a specific object on the world map. You have to do this several times, but once you finished one of these objects, the next one won't appear until SEVERAL runs later. First I thought ok, I die on purpose and do the next story step in the next run. After wasting HOURS on the next two runs, searching the whole map dozens of times, the next story objective appeared on the THIRD RUN in a spot i visited at least 3 times every previous run. Holy shit, what did the designer smoke? And all that for what? To unlock buying other stuff which made the game EVEN MORE braindead easy.
