"With a darker, more mysterious, thriller-horror twist" Simply putting many out of context videos with the same glitch effects used repeatedly does not make it mysterious, instead it came off as too forced.
In just less than 3 minutes in the game you run into a cult mass murder, you fight off JUST 1 cult member, AND every one of them retreats??? You walk to nearby houses to see indifferent dialogues like "I came back home from work ... and they're all gone" "Good thing you came inside, it's dangerous out there"
As you walk through a wooden arch, a video of gun execution of sorts pops out, you see blood splatter onto some thin black plastic sheets. So maybe someone shot you? But no, after the video you're back at the map. What does a random execution video have to do with the matter at hand?? It's such a mess. I quit in less than 15 minutes.
With a bit of mining, there are 1 or 2 monsters out of the 101 that are visually pleasing, but the majority are rather ugly. You can argue that's the game's art direction if they look haunting or nighmarish, but in this case (my observation) is that they're just ugly. And it seems shiny were implemented as well, by simply inverting the colors of the normal sprite...
Then there's the bland music, frequent encounters, forced key binding (unable to redefine keys)...It's just not very good.
