Played a bit, I agree with the steam's consensus: Not very good.
It has too rigid rules on reach: For guns, you can only target units on the same plane. Climb onto a crate and suddenly those on the ground can't target you, neither can you them. Grenades has no such problem, but often lock you out of close range attacks. Most often you can only aim at a straight line, which makes targeting a headache. Very confusing explanation on long range skills with 2 attack targets. Seems like you can't attack the same place twice.
The game asks you to be constantly moving on the map for MP (Adrenaline), but with really shabby covers that break down in 1 or 2 hits. Some skills (cost MP) are just a buff, but still counts an an action - you cannot attack enemies after. This makes battle slow, and give more opportunities for the enemy to mob you. Both the enemy and your team block your movement. Your HP is locked to 10, doesn't increase with level. Result: most of the time you're out in the open as a running duck, die very easily.
You can only rewind current turn at most twice, with no option for full restart, so if you want a flawless victory you'd need to keep a manaul save backup constantly doing the "quit game, delete old, rename backup, duplicate backup" dance.
You need sync attacks to overcome the enemy's number advantage, but it often cause friendly fire (and nothing happens to the enemy as a result)
You can turn battle speed to 2x but, it immediately resets on turn change.
Move range is not displayed clearly. Especially extra movments' move range, for some reason is faint green, which makes me unsure if I've selected the character or not.
Overall, visuals are nice, but stage gameplay is not smooth. Recommend to play with cheat engine.
Nothing to be surprised about. SNK's business is now IP management, either lending their IP out or continuing past titles with tenth of the passion. (The owner is not even Japanese, but an Arabian moarch)
I've been watching this game for two years and played the limited release demo. As a MS fan, it seemed kind of fun as a SRPG but definitely needed to be polished in the demo. I have yet to start the released version but I have hope it can be good.
