I genuinely don't understand why Chinese devs particularly likes to create rogue-like games. I knew there are a few famous Chinese streamers and contents producers on Bilibili really likes to play rogue like games...... But the generic strategy game is not popular in China, only rogue like for some reasons.
Was it because Chinese people like to grind the games?
Don't get me wrong, I really really like to play rogue like game as well. Maybe it's my Chinese part of the blood or Chinese culture that make me like rogue-like games? Because I don't watch bilibili so was this "liking rogue-like" a part of DNA thing?
I have some Chinese dev friends in the Seattle is also working on a roguelike auto battler. Got me thinking why this is the case.
Pardon my english but Rogue like genre is easy to create, as easy as cloning minecraft, and theres a ton of free template to begin, so is not about the player but the devs.
