Hello everyone! Back with a lengthy visual novel review. I recently posted a review of euphoria on this site. Before you check out Maggot Baits, I recommend you play euphoria if you have not, as it is far better. Onwards to my review. Menu/UI: 10/10 | Artwork: 8/10 | Sound/Music: 10/10 | Plot: 8/10 | Choices: 1/10 Genre: Overwhelmingly guro, rape/torture, tentacles. One vanilla-ish scene. This is one of the most metal visual novels I've seen. The intro was promising, as was the cast. ClockUp's UI and system menu is good as always. Music was great. However, the plot was rather lackluster in the sense that it wasn't flushed out enough, and there were practically no choices. Guro doesn't necessarily bother me but this visual novel spent too much time shoveling it into the material and it became irritating after a while to watch women being senselessly gored to death, because the artists actually spent time to make that many gore scenes. SPOILERS This is a guro visual novel through and through, and it is not afraid to show it. I hope ClockUp never does this again, because it was sorely disappointing. I am faced with the senseless torture of these Witches and after a while I am left wondering what the point of it all was. The plot is there, but it is quite clouded up. ClockUp has some incredibly talented writers, but the excessive guro and rape scenes shoveled in masked a story which otherwise be much better and take the reigns as it did with euphoria. Initially, I was flatout cringing with shock. After a while, though, I was only disheartened, rather than actually shocked, because the guro and rape scenes lost the value of their own existences pretty quickly. When characters died, all I felt was the disappointment that they were even being killed as it was senselessly done. The plot reveal concerning the Witches' immortality was interesting. What I did not understand was why Shougo went about slaughtering all of his former allies or leaving them to die. It felt like at that point the writers were trying to bring closure to a story that was not given time to flush out any of these characters. I was fully expecting to be able to reach a good ending with each main heroine but alas that was not what happened. He even left his human girl ally to be raped, tortured, and killed by the monstrous maggots. I understand that the point of this is that he was becoming the same monster he was trying to fight, but it still upset me. The ending of the visual novel was quite a beautiful ending, however. Shougo sacrificed his life to save Carol, and realizing this she becomes overcome by anger and sadness because she had fallen in love with him. She becomes a demon and spends her time rampaging through the now paradise-ridden world since they have a happiness she can never have for herself. This visual novel has a very specific audience, and it makes that progressively more clear. Maggot Baits is very good at what it is, but is still subjectively still not a good visual novel as a whole and does not nearly live up to the remarkable specimen that euphoria is. Final verdict: 4/10. The sound design, crisp UI, artwork, and underlying plot, cannot make up for how poorly it was all executed. As much as I hate railing on the studio's hard work, I don't recommend this unless you have very specific tastes.
i used to think after playing euphoria i will be a battle hardened soldier who can take on anything, i wasn't ready for this, couldnt finish it, gonna make my stomach a bit more powerful before playing this lmao
I agree. I'm a huge fan of ClockUp games but this was a bit of a disappointment. The lack of choices and guro being shoved in my face constantly in absence of solid plot like euphoria had, was a huge turnoff. The climax of the story also didn't make much sense and Shougo's actions after this felt utterly irrational.
Oh man! There has got to be something wrong with me, despite the clear suffering of the girls I am aroused even though I was disgusted by the tortures but man, those voices are superb! The plot is good too!
This is the most metal anime i've ever seen and i'm enjoying the plot too. The main guy looks like the punisher but paired with blood mages/succubus and all kind of twisted shit. Come for the tiddies and stay for the story.
I finally managed to crack it. Just download the file and extract it. The game still in japanese though. if any problem just read the instructions. https://miniurl.pw/zPIMl
Gore freaks Its not that uncommon but I had a bad habit of fapping to gore (I was a daily user of bestgore) back then but somehow the spark was gone and moved on to lewded lolis
So, it's ero-guro. If you don't know what that means, you probably shouldn't download it. If you know what it means and you wanna download it, you know what you're getting into, so have fun.
