This is 1.5.5.2 and it works, but without the 1.6.6.2 update (which is not available anywhere online) you cannot update to 1.7.7.2, so the update links are useless.
Anyone having troubles with the Gate of the Dead section?. Some.of the sigils disappear when upside down. I'm not sure that that's supposed to happen...
It's more than just metroidvania. You have to actually think and read stuff, and there are many puzzles that require more than just knowing how to press buttons, but to use your brain and memory.
I kinda find the jumping and mid air control unwieldy. Seems to sometimes maintain momentum and sometimes not. Might drop the game over this and it's a pity coz this game seems to have so much more of a personality than Chasm, the other game that was released recently like it.
I feel like I need to go back to the original La-Mulana now and complete my grail-less no health upgrade run. I finally beat Bahamut after months of work but I never quite managed to beat the Mother.
Funny you say that, because I find the controls absolutely perfect. It's really uncommon for me to just feel right doing a back and forth jump to go up a level, but it's so natural in this game. Everything lands exactly how I feel like it should.
Chasm isn't a good example for snappy controls coz it has its own problems, like there being no animation canceling and the backstep being utterly pointless.
I heard they've made improvements to the backstep in update 1.03 but when I played it, it wasn't possible to animation cancel an attack into a backstep. The only canceling I found usable was attacks cancelling into other attacks. Either way, the game did not feel as snappy as SOTN and while we're on SOTN, it's kind of a shame that a game that took 6 years to make was so basic and bare-boned. The ode to SOTN was obvious but there was no iteration and it came nowhere near measuring up to a game that released 20 years back. Overall just a boring experience that I'll forget I even played all the way through.
Yeah, sadly. As for the backstep, I've never cancelled with it, but that was pre-1.03 as well. Only anim cancelling is with the jump landing, as I said.
Sometimes that means the dev leaked it. And when that happens there are bugs placed in by the devs that make it unbeatable or playable at a certain point. Im not saying thats the case here, obv we will find out tho. but it happens too often.
