I expect that after that time skip at 14:30, you would have mostly forgotten about the overarching plot of some kingdom being usurped and that the player character is a lost prince, wouldn't you? The gameplay in the first hour doesn't even have any remjnder about the plot. I would have expected that when night comes, the first prince sends over some minions, but no.
Actually, the shadow raids you settlement when the night comes. You have to fend them off or your villager is killed or facility is destroyed. Not as punishing as Founder's Fortune though. Probably, the early day does not have the shadow because you need sword to fend them off, otherwise you do zero damage with your axe.
That's not a wise king if the first thing that he said about his first prince being afflicted is that he would be disinherited, instead of having the latter examined and something done about his "infection". Typical story-writers who don't review their work.
The concept is really good. Better and less grinding than Founder's Fortune. However, npc can get stuck too often and the contents are still very few. The resources are just still wood and stones, so gathering is a bit repetitive, as of now. Building a facility is still "Banished" style, you and your npcs carries one piece at a time to fill in the box to build it. I find this unnecessary for this game. I have not dive too deep into dungeon so idk what is the purpose or benefits of doing it. The game is promising but still need more contents and diversity of what to do/play. It is still EA so the flaws are expected.
nice synopsis of the game that you share. any chance you know other games that are similar like this one? been looking games like this for a while, but this one still in early stage in dev :/
Founder's Fortune if you can tolerate micro management and annoying villagers that shit talk each other then get into bad mood and do nothing. On good side, there is technology to discover, like Civilization series. I think it is mix between survival game and Civ. Banished is focused on survival but lack goal, good if you want to do intense resource management on macroscopic level, unlike Founder's Fortune. Rimworld is probably the most popular of surviving and city building genre, but I have not tried it yet.
It's fun at first, but gets complicated when they start killing each other over "your bed is bigger than mine" or because of personality's incompatibilities, and even pyromaniacs who will never stop from starting a hazardous fire right inside the camp. A full on set of challenges as you venture outside of the camp's boundaries. Edit: Thanks to you, I am enjoying Founder's Fortune. Didn't realize it was out there.
