can i just say thank you soo much for having this game on the list, this game was one of my childhood games i played i somehow had it installed but it kept asking for the cd so noooow i can officially play this game again
So here's what I did. First, I checked the .ini file, specifically Dbattles.ini, which should be in whichever folder you've installed the game to. There I found a section where the program attempts to find the Bap files, which by default are scjp.bap and scjp_Loc.bap. It then directs the program to look in three separate locations for the files, the disc itself, the directory where you installed the game, and a third directory under C:\ProgramData\Knowledge Adventure\Dbattles. You'll want to make sure that both of those files are present in all three locations. I just copy-pasted the whole section from [Letter Directory]:\Battles\Resource. That solves the "Please Insert" error and the game will launch. Unfortunately, the game crashed upon startup for me at this point. I've messed with a couple other ISOs of older games and this seems to mean that there is an error in a file name somewhere, but as of right now, I'm uncertain. I'll get back once I've figured the crash on start.
With some tinkering, I've narrowed the problem area down to the Movies folder directly on the disc. Exactly why this is causing issues, I'm not sure, but the crash happens during the execution of what I think is VidlnKALogo.smk. Beyond that, though, I'm not too sure. In my head, it doesn't make sense that the ISO image of the disc would have an incorrect file name on it, so I doubt that's the issue. I'm thinking this could just simply be a major compatibility issue with modern operating systems. How exactly to fix that is beyond me at the moment.
