VRidge has now gone commercial (The latest version is now being sold on Steam).
However, you can still download an older version for free or try another freeware alternative like ALVR (Download here ALVR works on some, but not all smartphones).

I thought this was going to be an update for this game that makes it non vr but no, it's still vr only, sucks

Buy a pre-owned CV1 or something. You can get them dirt cheap and they still work great. I use mine frequently and have done so for the last 10 years I've owned it. I bought two more on case this one breaks... got every kit with HMD two sensors and motion controllers for under $100, barely used.
