In Subnautica you can move up and down (dive), in this game only walk on the ground. So you lose the vertical axis to explore this mysterious land.
In Subnautica, you don't have to come back to your base; you can roam anywhere you please and build your base anywhere. In this game, you have to return to your train; otherwise, you can't save the game, which feels much more restrictive.
In Subnautica, you can build a mobile submarine as your command ship. In this game, you can only explore places along the track because trains have to run on tracks.
In subnautica, your main restrictions are "Where is the blueprint" and "Where can I find this material". And if you remember where to go, you can find late-game stuff right away if this is your second playthrough. In this game, you are locked onto the track, you must stay on the track and "pick garbage near the track".
In short, subnautica is a game focused on exploration, and this game is a terrible grind about "it need soooo much material to build, I have to keep doing this garbage picking forever"
So far the game is only on EA, but due to this intrinsic gameplay limitation, I doubt it will get be a 4/5 in the first place.
I've only played the demo, but it's actually pretty different from Void Train. It's much slower paced, with a larger emphasis on survival mechanics than combat. Sadly none of the hilarious physical comedy, of course, but I was finding the story more engrossing than Void Train's. I've been looking forward to the full release.

And Full Controller Support is for Xbox only.
