you should try this one then lol, I also couldn't go through with the first. This one is much better! I'll give it a go, might add a mod or two when needed, maybe just Relight mod to add contrast. Otherwise, from streams I've seen, gameplay and maps are spot on.
Most of these so called "spiritual successors" to Heretic, Hexen or Witchaven fail to nail the vibe of those old classics, particularly Hexen, which has a very unique atmosphere and style.
also heretic/hexen have mods who are more enjoyable this one can use QoL mods to improve a little the gameplay, but they are more designed for the previous 2
played the first game, i got bored of it in less than 1 hour
