Man, bet the devs of this game were pissed off about Hobo Tough Life releasing a few weeks earlier, and as a much better game. That description is definitely "garbage": "humourous yet non-offensive manner" - I doubt that's possible. There's tons of funny things about the homeless, but they're all offensive to someone (not necessarily homeless people, but soyboy SJWs who want to white knight for the noble homeless or something).
I tried this game OMG! What a horrible game!!! better off to play hobo or the spare change bum game. I'm surprised they charged money to play this!!! Just plain old awful. The tutorial i was hungry i found a potato but i wasn't able to eat it! 1 out 5 stars
I found an updated version 2.00 garbage seems it was updated! I had to go to Iranian site to get fit-girl version 2.00 i'm glad it works. IGG please update this game! This version is 3 years old!
Apparently, this is not just some shitty throwaway game that is slapped together with stock assets. However, its in-game documentation isn't great. For one, that starting question of "have you ever been homeless?" is actually a query for difficulty setting. It's not a social science survey question. If you answer "yes" or "I am homeless" without knowing this, you get a punishing playthrough.
Indeed, "the fuck?". I thought that this is just some throwaway shit. The developer had actually been playing the game live using Steam Store's feature, by the way. How many so-called developers who make slapped-together trash games do that?
I used to think the same way but I've seen some pretty crappy games being streamed by their developers. It seems if you can't get anyone well known to stream it for you, you have to do it yourself. But did you try it yet? If so, is it worth it?
For a homeless player character, dude actually has some place to go back to, even if it's an abandoned plot of tenement land and rain run-off for a shower.
ikr? Tax free, no rent, no maintenance. Freedom to build whatever he wants there, it's practically an Indian preservation land that has all the protection of a country like the US without the negative like following the laws or taxation.
Or Slab City, California. Formerly a Naval base, was decommissioned and bought up by an association of teachers, meaning the land is owned by multiple people, of which none have the means to take care of the mess in court, 'nor does the county or state. To try and remove the squatters on the land, and the amount of people who show up yearly to set up camp for the winter is way too much of a task. The police are even afraid of people there, they've tried to enforce certain things but it just doesn't work.. Back in the 80's and 90's, they used to kill cops out there.. They still aren't fond of them. In 2012, a guy we called Moth who used to live in the old water tanks, knocked out Officer Greene after we (Slab City residents) slipped LSD in his drink that he ordered at the Range (a makeshift stage built for weekend parties) trying to "socialize" and get on the good side of the residents.. Lmao. He flipped his shit.. Protocol for cops who get drugged like that goes like this.. He was supposed to cuff himself to his vehicle, lock his gun in his car with his keys, and radio in for assistance from superiors.. but instead he lost his shit and ran off in to the desert, where Moth proceeded to clock him.. .. And so, it is basically its own "city" now, has been since the late 70's sort of.. with fake addresses honored by USPS, UPS, and Fedex (since the 80's/90's.) You can build, too, as long as it's not on a permanent foundation. (Most people live in trailers, though some build homes, mostly forts/shanties.) And some use the leftover foundations.. Concrete slabs the buildings sat on, that still exist, hence the name of the place, SLAB city. I used to live there. My address was 555 Low Rd, Slab City California, 92233.
Used to? What happened? Was it inconvenient for shopping or did people harass and monitor you when you left slab city? Or was the safety highly dubious due to the anarchy and lack of enforcement? Was there a drug or people trafficking ring? I'd don't know why but it sounds so interesting, if not for the fact that you probably all had working jobs in or outside the city and still had to pay tax.
All of what you said, happens there.. LOL.. You're a thinker, I can tell you spend a lot of time mulling things over. It's very close to the Mexican Border, and off the only highway going straight up through Cali, on the desert side of the coastal mountains, meaning way less traffic, way less police, and a lot of dirt roads and dunes to hide around, so there's a lot of Cartel traffic. Nobody paid tax for anything there.. Only sales tax on stuff you get from the store, when in town etc. The kind of taxes no one can avoid.. Unless they live in Oregon, lol. Most people there were on SSI.. But there were some religious people that would come through with stuff, people there had beaters, and would hitch rides with some of the residents who had some kind of transportation or an RV that still ran, some people are crazy and walk, some ride bikes, some have electric or gas powered bikes.. I've seen people make vehicles out of chainsaw engines and weed wackers.. One guy even goes out there with an ultralight airplane.. There are lots of ways to get around, and to get to town and get supplies, the food bank, etc.. The nearest town is like 5 miles away, and has a bus that comes through every day. There were also a few people who managed to make businesses in Slab City.. Like water delivery, etc. etc. People manage. When I lived there, I'd hitch a ride or walk in to town, and take the bus to El Centro.. I'd camp out there for a few days and make my way around the city and get all the supplies I need over time, then I'd take the bus back later in the week, and hitch back out with a couple Molle bags full of stuff. Living like that started to wear on me, cause it was chaotic and took a lot of energy and perseverance.. That and I can't stand being in the same place for too long, naturally, I get sick of every living situation I'm in eventually
