There was a game with similar presentation and janky gameplay that I recall. It was XIII - the one game that was infamous for having David Duchovny (Mulder of X-Files) in an adaptation of a graphic novel. That Duchovny was a lousy voice-actor is only one of the poor designs of that game. I am getting vibes of that from this game.
