second edit: welp. nevermind then, i just ended up uninstalling the whole thing and using the 8.0 version in the first place. don't use the most updated version! look for 8.0, not 8.2. keeping the below stuff incase it helps someone: seems like i kinda got the moguri mod working, the graphics look cleaner, but only some of the launcher options work. i also can't get widescreen to work...anyone know why? edit: nevermind, i got it working!!! if you're stuck, first follow the steps of the previous commenters first. do the Csharp and StreamingAssets stuff first. once you do that, the Moguri mod should kinda work. here's how to get it working fully: i had to download an earlier version of moguri mod, the 8.0 version here (https://www.moddb.com/mods/moguri-mod/downloads/moguri-mod-80) or just search "moguri mod older version".that is the version that includes the memoria.moguri patcher exe. do what the comments below say: place it in the ffix folder and run it (may need to be ran as administrator). once you've done that, the icon for FF9_Launcher should change, probably because its an earlier version. try opening it now, it should work with widescreen and everything! editing the settings is a bit weird since the older launcher doesn't have all those options, but what i did is: renamed the FF9_Launcher with the IX icon for a backup. then, i copied back in the previous Moguri FF9_Launcher, the one with the yellow icon instead of the IX. name it to just FF9_Launcher and it works perfectly, you can change settings and stuff and it'll actually work. after changing settings, you can go back to the previous FF9 Launcher with the IX icon, but idk if thats necessary.
Thanks for posting the instructions. I was wondering why I installed the latest Moguri Mod 8.2 and it wouldn't work (always visible broken blue pointer icon in center screen) and got stuck at the first battle which doesn't even show the menu. Your instruction was a bit unclear as it sounds like you used both FF9_Launchers from 8.0 and 8.2 to get the settings to work? It says 8.0 doesn't have Widescreen by default- which I think is great to have, so you must be using 8.2 as well then.
can anyone help me? my game... sort of works. I open the game and everything is normal, there's the name of the game, the warning, name of companies, and then - nothing. just the black screen with gray thingies on the left and right of the screen. Interestingly, when i try to Alt+F4 the game, the game asks me ''quit the game? any unsaved data will be lost'' which means the game works? maybe? i dunno. i need help with this.
I have the exact same issue, I made sure I copied the steam files properly, tried running it in administrator mode, re-installed it but nothing seemed to work... I really hope someone finds a solution to it. Maybe the files are just corrupt which kind of sucks...
It actually worked! What even makes me feel dumb is that I thought the icon in the desktop is just a shortcut for the same application, so I didn't even bother opening it although I did consider it... Anyway thanks a lot mate ^^
Megaup link does work. Figured it out. Keep hitting the seal ad and hit back. After some tried the link loads. Game works perfect without the update. Thank you!!
Hi Lucayeon, apologies this is 10months too late but I thought this too, but I did just get the megaup link working with some consistant clicking of the link. Hope it helps :)
I used the elamigo version linked below and got moguri 8.2.1.0 to work right away. The mega and google drive links on that site are crappy but the torrent worked fine, to see the torrent link register with a temp email. The installer gives you a choice between 2 cracks Ali213 or CODEX, then downloaded moguri and hand typed the file path for where FFIX was installed.
I get a black screen after the Square Enix and the studio's name show up. I selected the option to copy codex contents during installation. Does anyone know what I can do?
Hi everyone, I need some help here, i tried a lot of stuff written here but can't get FFIX with moguri mod to work, can i have a clear step by step on this? Have the august update of FFIX, and moguri 8.2 and 8.0, tried both, can't get to start the game. Crash, stuck on Final fantasy IX title, or black screen,... A great thing would have to get an image of the game installed with moguri mod. :D Thank you all for your help.
Had already requested for the August 6/2020 update yesterday. No response yet. But I tried the game, it's still working with moguri's September/2020 update. If you're having trouble with the mod, scroll down and look for ILNeGeAr's comment. I just followed their instructions and everything's working fine. If when you opened the game and there's no sound, just look inside the game's main directory, look for _CommonRedist >DirectX>Jun2010>DXSetup Basically, you just need to re-install DirectX10 If you encounter an error saying that the file is corrupted when you try to mount the FF9 ISO, just extract it using 7ZIP or any extractor you're using. It worked okay for me after I did that.
For anyone, this version is compatible with the Moguri mod. You have just to:
Install the game and apply the crack;
Install the patch and apply the crack. This is a bit tricky because the patch installer (as mentioned in a comment below, thank you ILNeGeAr) will add one extra folder to the final install location. ||| For example: if you install the game under C:\Games\Final Fanyasy IX and then you apply the patch selecting the same destination folder (C:\Games\Final Fantasy IX) the patch will be put in a sub folder inside the main folder (C:\Games\Final Fantasy IX\Final Fantasy IX). Keep in mind this when applying the patch because it is the main reason of black screens after the startup. |||
Install the Moguri Mod via launcher provided by their site right into the folder you've installed Final Fantasy IX. This got some issue too, but i don't know if it is a visual glitch. When you select the destination folder the path doesn't change (i manually typed the path where i've installed the game, just to be sure). If all went well the last 15mb patch (a CMD window) will not give you any error.
Start the game through FF9_Launcher. This worked flawlessy for me, even without downloading the CSharp.dll
Nope, you have to install it in the folder just before you have installed the game. Btw i heard there is a new update so i don't really know if it will work now. This post was made for a previous version of the game. Hope you can make it work
I have been trying so hard to get this to work just the way you have laid it out and just for the life of me cannot get it to not be absolute clown vomit when I start playing, loading sequences and videos play normally if not a bit choppy but in game it's clown vomit.
For anyone wondering, it does work with the fantastic Alternate Fantasy mod from what I can tell. Install, update, crack then put the mod files in and you're good to go. Only seems to work through the launcher though.
I have no idea, as I'm not using it. However, if you refer to a few of the longer posts down this thread some people explain the procedure in detail, so it may just work.
EDIT I got it working!! so just download the update above (I didn't see it myself) Don't install Moguri to your game just install it else where. https://steamcommunity.com/app/377840/discussions/0/142261352660457538/ ^ they mention a csharp file, thats what causes the jumbled mess(in my case) and black screens Download that file and place it into the spot they say "Under either x64\FF9_Data\Managed" Now for Moguri, when you installed it; it places a folder in your Cdrive Program files under Moguri Mod. There you just copy the contents called StreamingAssets to your FF9 folder. I hope that helps ya! If the update above doesn't work, sorry, try looking around other sites like...skidrow ((Not sure if its okay to suggest other sites on here, sorrys in advance))
Just an update for anyone who's still strugglin (Mod is worth it after all.. kinda why i re-downloaded this game after so many years) ILNeGeAr's steps are all correct.. save 1 thing i didnt pay attention to. Disclaimer: havent tried without crack, but might work still --- FF7's mod wont work if you crack the base game so on there you DONT install the crack, same might apply here too, so if you're still facing problems try to uncheck the crack and update without cracking, then install mod and see.. now for the cracked game- Im detailing it for everyone so hopefully seasoned pirates will bear with me..
install base game +crack (ex: c:/games/FFIX or whatever you choose)
install/update+crack (ex: c:/games/FFIX again or whatever you choose AGAIN) NOTE: (during install make sure it installs into your base game's folder. It updates the internal files so you shouldnt see a separate FFIX in the original folder once the update finishes. the update has a nasty habit of tryin to install to prog files folder or adding an extra Final Fantasy IX folder since regular install is uppercase if left default, and the update is lower case.. so mismatch andboom, 2 folders takin up plenty space and broken game)
Install Moguri to a folder (ex: create a folder on desktop and install it into that folder... you just need a placeholder for now)
Copy the "streaming assets" folder from the folder you installed the mod into and paste it into your game folder. DO NOT ERASE THE MOD FOLDER YET
Download and put csharp.dll into your installation folder/FFIX/x64 or x86 . whichever doesnt matter.. NOTE: (when i dloaded it the name of the file was Assembly_CSharp.dll so i just renamed/removed Assembly_ and wabam.. you got CSharp.dll ) click launcher for the FFIX and if it doesnt bring up a mod launcher, then the mod didnt work for ya and you need to proceed to HUGE NOTE!!!! STEP 6 If you're getting the clown splooge screen then this might help
copy Memoria.Moguri.Patcher.exe (its in the same folder where you copied the streaming assets from) to the main FFIX folder (where the launcher is) and run it. it shouldnt give you an error, it should run and update (might pause for a lil bit... a minute, 2 at most at around 90% mark but it will continue). once its patched, click launcher and a mod's version of launcher should pop up. choose whatever you want in terms of resolution yaddi yaddi yaada and run the game. your clown splooge screen should be good and gone, and you SHOULD have some nice, clean and beautiful backgrounds. Now you can go ahead and delete all the folders (like the downloaded mod and extracted/mounted ffix isos and whatnot...)you dont need.. and enjoy the game. the only problem is the size of all this crap since i was runnin with limited capacity and had to keep all files up to last minute if it didnt work and had to reinstall >XD I hope i explained it well enough for everyone to understand :D sometimes the little nuances are what drives the entire thing off the cliff... until i patched the damn thing i was scratchin my head on why i had to look at the splooge
Just to be sure, did you open the game from the launcher file "FF9_Launcher.exe"? Because I got a black screen too if I open from anything else. If it still didn't work then I don't know what's the problem sry
Well there is a iso but its corrupted lmao cant open it.. Edit: u need to use PowerISO otherwise u cant open up the iso cuz its corrutpted https://www.poweriso.com/download.php
I've finished downloading and already playing with mine, there is no need for emulator this game is built for pc you just need a PowerISO software or similar to mount the iso file and run the installer in the mounted image file then make sure to copy the crack or CODEX files to the game directory and only then you can start playing :)
All download links except for the slow as molasses http://MegaUp.net link are down. The Update links still work, I think, but most of the download links need to be re-upped.
MegaUP is the 3rd of the best Alternative downloads (1st Mega.Co... 2nd Google ) No Captcha, Fast link copy, Speeds of 12-25 MB/s (Using Fiber 100/100) I fail to see, the purpose of the flame at all here The other alternatives are between, 125Kb/s to 750Kb/s Ps: Hope it's a joke, or a Failed trolling attempt haha... Nice for a laugh tho, I admit
It's not a trolling attempt. It literally told me it would take over 1 day to download. I was like, Hell no. I just downloaded Final Fantasy VIII from your google drive link and it's almost as big as IX. It downloaded in minutes. That was the reason for my request. Maybe it is having some issues or something. I'm not usually downloading a bunch of games, so that explains why I don't know it has a good reputation, according to you. I'm trying to download it right now though, and it's capping me at around 175 KB/s. Earlier it was about half that. That's ridiculously slow for a host you say is good. And I have a T-1 Bonded Business line with gigabit speeds.
Thats really odd, MegaUP is my to go Host, if Mega.Co fails. As I don't like Google Drive at all, speeds nice but bypassing download limit is random, and tedious at times. Only other explanation is that I'm using JDownloader... Hmm. I don't know what else could be making things complicated for you. Haha, yea I don't know how I would react to; 1 Day to get 4GBs down
They must have been having server issues, because I tried it now and it's downloading at 2.2 MB/s with an ETA of 30 minutes. That's not blazing fast, but definitely manageable. I feel better now.
I have I problem with this game. I download it without any problems. But when I try to mount the setup-1.bin file into poweriso it says "the file format is invalid or unsupported". Please help.
Alternativly you can unpack the ISO through WinRaR Options ->Settings -> Integration tab -> Check; Associate WinRaR with ISO -> OK! If you get a CRC error despite this, you either have:
While i can normally install and play this. There is a mod called: Memoria and i cant run the game when i install that mod, i mean, i run the laucher normally but the game goes black screen and stays there...
only have a game load screen but game not starting .what's wrong ? .....already fixed the problem ,needed the update files to be installed ,and the cracked steam account files were not even needed,ps it not even wanted to recognize the replace files under the same name ,and steam not even check for official account .
What's the proper location to install the patch? I'm installing it in the game directory and it's giving me a bunch of error messages saying the files have a "hash sum mismatch! Requires MD5..."
Most updaters with, 'Hash Checks' can be confusing so here's a tip O.B.S: This game needs Step 2! Always follow these Steps when dealing with 'Hash Updaters' 1... : Install Game -> Install Update -> Apply Crack 2... if Fail: Install Game -> Apply Crack -> Install Update -> Apply Crack 3... If 1 & 2 Fails, Check following:
Enough Space on C; and Destination Partition
Path name having, ÅÄÖ etc as it can sometimes cause problems Or your files are corrupted Doing this as a routine when you notice a game with updates, can save some time and frustrations.
Install following files inside: Final Fantasy 9 -> _CommonRedist *DX -> Jun2010 *DotNet -> 4.5.1 *vcredist -> 2010 -> 32 & 64 *vcredist -> 2013 -> 32 & 64 32 & 64 is the application support NOT, what your system runs, always best to keep both updated at all times Run the game from the Launcher in the Install Directory: Final Fantsy 9 -> FF9_Launcher ... Enojy! Good to know: This step is 90% of all black screen errors for games well within ones system requirements range (Not related to this game, the other 10% factors are SSE, CPU Bit range etc...)
I just found the answer to the problem (very confusing troll from IGG). So if you point your mouse in one of their parts, you will notice that it leads to a homepage, but with something added after it. So i suspected there was some misplace. So let's do "Copy the URL" from Part 1 without opening it. What we get? we get this: http://igg-games.com/1ZR7XI Don't you see something suspicious? No replace all the "http://igg-games.com" and add "http://adf.ly" so that you get a "http://adf.ly/1ZR7XI" And this will lead to the original file. I have no idea how this troll happened, but I hope they fix it

If you had any AV installed, it might be detecting the game exe as false positive. In this case, it might quarantined the exe. I'm using Avast so what I do is remove the game's exe from the virus chest then put it as an exclusion (white-list the game exe).
Having the same issue as others with the black screen after Square enix start up logo.. I have trieduninstalling ff9 then disabling my Avast then reinstalling it again.. I still dont see that ff9 launcher.. Can someone pls help :(
seems like i kinda got the moguri mod working, the graphics look cleaner, but only some of the launcher options work. i also can't get widescreen to work...anyone know why?
edit: nevermind, i got it working!!! if you're stuck, first follow the steps of the previous commenters first. do the Csharp and StreamingAssets stuff first. once you do that, the Moguri mod should kinda work. here's how to get it working fully:
i had to download an earlier version of moguri mod, the 8.0 version here (https://www.moddb.com/mods/moguri-mod/downloads/moguri-mod-80) or just search "moguri mod older version".that is the version that includes the memoria.moguri patcher exe. do what the comments below say: place it in the ffix folder and run it (may need to be ran as administrator). once you've done that, the icon for FF9_Launcher should change, probably because its an earlier version. try opening it now, it should work with widescreen and everything!
editing the settings is a bit weird since the older launcher doesn't have all those options, but what i did is: renamed the FF9_Launcher with the IX icon for a backup. then, i copied back in the previous Moguri FF9_Launcher, the one with the yellow icon instead of the IX. name it to just FF9_Launcher and it works perfectly, you can change settings and stuff and it'll actually work. after changing settings, you can go back to the previous FF9 Launcher with the IX icon, but idk if thats necessary.
Fix for the steam overlay missing
Support Borderless Fullscreen
Increase limit of some script objects
switching X and O by default.
That was probably what was going on, it is now fixed with version 8.3
Your instruction was a bit unclear as it sounds like you used both FF9_Launchers from 8.0 and 8.2 to get the settings to work? It says 8.0 doesn't have Widescreen by default- which I think is great to have, so you must be using 8.2 as well then.
I heard it only works if you purchase the game from Steam.

Geez, it's finally opened by mounting it with Power ISO.
You have just to:

Download that file and place it into the spot they say "Under either x64\FF9_Data\Managed"
