It's grandpa's story time, lads. I have a personal history with this. The year was 2000. My friend and I played a game of "snakes and ladders" and as my prize he "gifted" me this whopping 4-disc game! The poor old me refused but the boy insisted.

So, I took the game home. Opened it up, and it looked scratched up to oblivion as if by an angry feline. Never ran on my PS1 no matter what. Now 25 years later, I will have the last laugh!

This runs trough some PS1 emulator? In game folder there are files named DISC1-4 and there is also file called "openbios.bin". Greeeeeeeed......

They actually modified the core game a bit by adding the modern analog control and re-arranging UI a bit for widescreen, but that's it.
Overall, original game on emulator + visual enhancements (+ whatever your favorite shader, personally de-noise) is still superior imo, until someone decrypt disc images they used in this one.

Well this is a blast from the far FAR past. Personally speaking I prefer the second game but this one was pretty damn good too

No, this is a port of the original game to run natively on PC. Though judging from what some people are saying you're better off running the original PS1 version on an emulator with enhancements

This is a nice surprise, never expected a pc port of this game, there are some small qol features but the modern controls are great. Thanks for the upload!

I think the original 2000 game was two discs and had problems with emulators, so I don't think this one is emulated. Although I can't be 100% sure, it's best to search online to see if there's any information.
P.S.: The game is called Fear Effect Reinvented, and it is a remake of the original/originals.

Four discs actually. Also Fear Effect Reinvented was canceled so it's not this one. This one is just a port of the original game with very little in terms of QOL updates

Not sure why someone or the devs didn't release Reinvented, Instead of this cash grab lazy port.

Reinvented was canceled two years ago and was by a completely different dev team. This one is being published by Limited Run Games and if you know anything about that company, they only do ports of old games both in digital and physical versions(and 9 times out of 10 they completely botch the physical releases), they don't do remasters or remakes

Thanks for the clarification.
I played it for an hour and found it to be better than Fear Effect Sedna.
Although, since this one is remastered, it would have been nice if they'd improved the graphics and not left the PS1 graphics alone.

Pretty sure this one is just a port and not a remaster hence why it doesn't have improved graphics or anything like that

They ported a game from 2000 to "require" Windows 10? 🤨 🤦
