i would have prefered the automated click to move controls used in the mobile version but i managed. its short, not too hard, and ends with a to be continued but highly doubt we will ever see this series on PC again. They should have bundled all of the Faraway games (theres a bunch) and stitched them together for the price tag. Oh well, moving on
I think it's pretty cool you actually get free movement in this. I've played all of the mobile ones and it would be really nice to see some of the later ones like 4 with this setup. I picked it up on sale on steam for 2.99 which is pretty much the price for each on mobile and it was worth another go around. You're not joking though there are like six or seven of these things. I'd imagine the only reason why they didn't bundle them all onto PC as they are is because they wanted to try remaking at least a couple this way and see if there's any success to be had. I'll support that for three bucks.
Looks pretty puzzle heavy. I don't think that qualifies as a walking sim. More walking sims have absolutely nothing go on other than scripted events once you get somewhere. You saying walking sim almost scared me off before watching the video. But it looks great.
a lot of walking sims generally have light puzzles so games that are considered puzzle heavy often get lumped together with walking simulators just because they're in first person perspective lol hopefully you didn't miss out on Call of the Sea or the Unfinished Swan because of this they're both puzzle rich. also, walking simulators kick ass even if they're mostly walking. everybody on the planet needs to play What Remains of Edith Finch. you won't experience anything quite like it again.
Well, I enjoyed The Witness, Turing Test, Pneuma: Breath of Life and I didn't think they were walking sims even though you have to go around to many places to get to the puzzles. Edith Finch was exactly the kind of game that I was thinking of when someone says walking sim. I never played the two you referred to and Unfinished Swan was especially because it seemed too walking simmy/full of itself. Kind of like, I like to consider Limbo a bad game just because of how much good press it got. Just kind of gave it a stink layer on it that it wouldn't have had if it was a hidden gem, you know? Call of the Sea, I remember it but the games that don't have a single download link scare me off. Sure, I download some ones have have 15 d/l links/etc but some damn good games only have one and of that one only utilize like 200MB of that 5GB. I seen 3 and seen the gameplay videos and didn't figure that would warrant me throwing it on the stack of hundreds of other great games that I haven't played yet.
I forgot about the Turing Test and Pneuma, those games are really great! And The Witness is one of the greatest puzzle games ever. Other games I would recommend in this vein are Manifold Garden, The Talos Principle, Superliminal, and QUBE 2. All fantastic, in that order. I still think about the endings of Talos Principle and Superliminal all the time. I hope you actually give Edith Finch a playthrough and didn't watch videos of it. Lewis' chapter(fish cannery) might be my favorite "marriage of gameplay and narrative" moments of all time. You should definitely give Unfinished Swan a shot as well, it's way more puzzle than walking sim with each chapter bringing a new puzzle mechanic. Topically enough it's directly connected to Edith Finch, essentially a side-quel, but don't let that scare you off. This is a puzzle game first like the first three games you mentioned. I remember when Limbo came out during the whole XBOX "Summer of Arcade" annual blowout and didn't think it was all that great even at the time and perhaps the hype damaged it a bit for me. Inside on the other hand is phenomenally good. And real briefly, if Edith Finch can't sell somebody on the walking sim genre, that's when you send The Stanley Parable up to bat. Either way, you should absolutely add the games I mentioned to that hundred stack because you can trust me that they're really good. I mean who else are you going to talk to about Pneuma
