When was the last time we got a 28 days later (or weeks) or a Dawn of the Dead? Nah, now it's all films that focus in too much on the character(s) for wayyyyy too long just to save money and build boring ass suspense. If anything is overused it's that type of storywriting, like those awful post apocalyptic movies where it's so gradual we don't get a reveal of the monster or anything else till the end. It's all these indie directors and new-age film making bullshit. Nothing is genuine anymore. Last good zombie film I watched was Train to Busan, not even because it was different but because it felt genuine.
