So unlike Darksorceress I don't steal other peoples reviews, here's a legit review. I played for about 20 minutes, got to the "Making a profit" mission. Still playing just wanted to leave this.
The game is "Ok", nothing stand out about it. It does look a lot like Evil Genius, a LOT. But then again Evil Genius looks a lot like Dungeon Keeper as well just with different skins so let's get past that.
The tutorial is absolutely amazingly terrible. It tells you what to do, just not how to do it. The screen that lets you put together a "team", where you name your team etc is not the screen you use to actually add members to said team.
You'll need to run a LOT of missions before you can really advance. I've done a total of 6 so far and still haven't gotten any of my initial team to level 2 which you NEED in order to use the research bench to get more shit to run harder missions safely.
Also, when you build your cafeteria, put in 2 food dispensers, they only get refilled when they're completely empty and it takes a long time for them to get refilled. It sucks having to wait for the LONG countdown timer to get more food when you've got a scheduled mission waiting in the queue.
The game does run smoothly, no hiccups, the controls are a little wonky but easy to get used to.
As of right now it's worth 10$, but it may get better.
3/5 stars as of right now...
Edited since I've played some more, edit goes here.
I've run like 30 missions now. Review changed to 2/5 stars. Here's my problem, there's no way to increase speed. After a while it becomes a waiting simulator and that shit sucks.
Also 1 in 10 missions do you actually get to make any decisions on, you get called up and hey boss what do we do? The rest you send your guys out and they come back with xp and some samples.
The last 15 missions I've been waiting to collect a live specimen that you NEED in order to advance and guess what, no live specimens to be found. But I've been dancing around mission difficulties, my highest level is 4 and you run the risk of losing characters (I'm assuming based on the text) from difficult missions and those levels mean the difference between being able to actually research something and being trapped in a hole. You can't go back and replay missions so if you've got a level 1 guy and there are no level 1 missions left you're almost fucked.
So yeah, 2/5 stars. Needs more to do, speed up time, more mission interactivity. This isn't stargate, this is a fucking videogame where you want to do shit, not sit and wait.
A baby from Stargate & Evil Genius. It plays pretty solid and so far the only bugs I've run across are graphical, out of position type stuff. Small learning curve to the game, but a good casual title. I've you're into base builders, time management, and a general fan of Stargate, you'll likely find this title enjoyable to play
