The game appears to make an automatic checkpoint if the egg can remain stable on a platform for more than a second though. But then, this is itself a problem. If the egg falls to where it was before but does not break, the player's progress would have been set back by the auto-checkpoint. UPDATE: Apparently, the game developers are aware of this issue and has implemented something of a solution: the nests. The nests act as hard checkpoints. If the egg breaks too far away from the nest, the egg returns to that checkpoint. Still not a great solution though. It would have been better if the player is allowed to make the checkpoints wherever the player pleases instead.
